"What?! He's making you go to Westbriar for the rest of the week?""Yes, and all I did was disobey the dress code and then he tells me he doesn't like me," I cry into Jesy's arm during lunch. My uniform was fixed, down to my socks. Leanrich sent me to detention without my phone and I nearly had a panic attack since I was by myself with him.
He was filling out the paperwork to send me to Westbriar and every time he looked at me, he'd get this evil look on his face.
"It's the fact you're considered a 'typical white girl'," Camila says as she hands me a tissue. I thank her.
"Whaddya mean?"
"Blonde hair, blue eyes. The only reason why he lets Harlock off is because his mom is above him." I look at the Latina in horror. "What?" They all confirm regrettably.
"Yeah, he strongly dislikes you because of that. Paired with the fact you're smart and a bit rebellious," Andre trails off.
I wipe my eyes and put my head on Jesy's shoulder.
I felt so drained and anxious. I just wanted to go home. "It's okay, Perriewinkle," Jade, who was on the other side of me, says while rubbing my knuckles gently. "We're here for you. We love you. Fuck, Limpdick."
"That's what I've been saying!" Hayley says exasperatedly.
"You did say that. I just find it really weird that he's like... a backwards racist?" Alex says in more of a questionable tone. "Like he loves people of color and people who look like they're of color, when the school is dominantly white."
"And officially ran by a white woman," Camila adds.
"That's so fucked up," I whisper, eyes burning again. "I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he hates his boss and probably Tom. Then again, he's a prick," Elijah says. He had Chris's hand in his with his head on his shoulder.
That lifted my spirit a bit.
"I agree. Stick with that one," Jesy says, causing the taller boy to look up from the book he was reading. "What happened?"
Andre shakes his head, "Nothin', mate. Enjoy you boy- I mean book." Elijah gasps and throws a chip at him. He catches in his mouth much like Jade did before.
"Can all of the footballers do that?" I ask with my attention on the older Geordie. She shrugs, "Alex can't."
"She's right," he says while eating his lunch that his mam might've made.
"At least you know someone there," Hayley says carefully, making the air between us a little tense. I nod, "Yeah, but I dunno if I'd see her." I look at Jesy, who had an apologetic look on her face.
"I honestly didn't think he'd do that. He's only done it once and it was with-," "Me," Chris interrupts. "I swear, he only targets 'kids like us'. It's bullshit."
"It is, isn't it?" Jade mumbles. That's when I remembered what Alex said on my first day. I take her hand in mine and rub her knuckles like she did mine. She gives me a gracious smile then kisses my hand.
She's adorably affectionate.
"What's Westbriar like?" I ask Chris. He hisses a bit before looking up at me. "It's not as bad as I expected it, but it makes us look like angels."
