OK LETS GET INTO THIS CHAPTER......in this part of the book Mariah hits on the obvious career blunder, Glitter, and Mariah told how she was overworked and tried desperately to escape, but was unsuccessful, so he went with her brother to her moms house, and there she collapsed on the floor......and thats where we left off,

Mariahs is at her wits end, she is weak, loss of energy, and fatigue, her brother Morgan decided to take her to this spa....or what he thought was a spa, and he just left Mariah there by herself! Mariah realized it wasnt a spa and it was actually torture, nothing peaceful to get Mariah feeling better, and Mariah was stuck in there for 3 days till finally she got out! See this is why she don't trust her family now...both her brother an mother, who I thought Mariah had a great relationship with, but I never knew how emotionally draining her mom was. She manages to go to her penthouse an get her things together but her brother once again takes control and takes her to L.A....he figured the tabloids aren't in LA so Mariah reluctantly agreed, but Morgan decided on another place and this was like a rehab center. They gave Mariah sleeping pills and other drugs basically making her drowsy pretty much forcing her to get sleep. Mariah's nerves were already shattered because on August, 25th, 2001, the princess of Rnb, Aaliyah, was killed in a plane crash. And 2001 was a really bad year in terms of planes...because mariah came into the common area an everybody was glued to the TV screen, it was live from lower Manhattan and everybody watched in shock as planes crashed into the twin towers as well as the pentagon, an then collapsing, taking 3000 lives including lots of paramedics and police officers! The terrorist attacks has everybody so shook that the rehab center decided to release Mariah an Mariah was free to go! It took a terrorist attack to set her free but she has a long road ahead! Mariah decided she was good enough to go to the glitter movie premier but....the damage was done! Glitter came out on 9/11 an the country was very paralyzed after the attacks as a result it barely got coverage so it flopped hard in the box office. An the album even tho it was a soundtrack it still sold like 3.3 million worldwide. They were starting to compare it to her album sales like daydream or music box an these "critics" made it sound like it only 4 people bought it!! I honestly don't thing glitter is as bad as they make it seem, yeah it could've been better or like a TV movie save Mariah the stress of a soundtrack....but back then Mariah didn't know how to make demands like she do now and the industry got the best of her.

Virgin records found out how much Mariah flopped hard and decided to release her from her contract in 2002. Mariah thought after the breakdown was over then the tabloids would move on but it got bigger an bigger an everything Mariah did was criticized! But after all this Mariah finally got a break and she spent 6 months in Capri near Italy, which was much deserved! And while there she written songs based off her wild experiences, she signed another deal with Island Def Jam by LA Reid who took a chance on her an they developed an album called Charmbracelet, which at lot was based of Mariah's childhood growing with deep songs such as "My Saving Grace" and "Through The Rain......but the album didn't do as hot but was a major improvement from glitter. Mariah touched based a bit on Luis Miguel one of her men's, an she talked how it was cute they met on a blind date and they seemed stable but Luis had another side to him and after the BS with tommy, Mariah was not about to let another man take her on a wild ride an they broke up after 2 years.

2002-2004 was rough for Mariah, she found out her dad Alfred had cancer, an he died later in 02. Even tho mariah never had a close relationship with her father it's still hurts cuz she found out that he been supportive of her career since the beginning, an I think during that short time of reconciliation she got a taste...of a fathers love. Career wise she was doing great as a feature artist for some top 20 hits, and the Charmbracelet tour was some of the best vocals since daydream.....but she was determined not to be a 90s fodder and she went to work on the best album she ever made, THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI!! Mimi was a childhood nickname her cousin would call her an she made the theme of the album about freedom! Free from Tommy free from virgin free from whatever, and she came back swinging with the best record she made WE BELONG TOGETHAAAA!! Also bops like Shake it Off, It's Like That, Dont Forget about Us I mean the album was a masterpiece! It sold 11 million worldwide and she was back!! She then went on the adventures of Mimi tour an she talked about how she met Bryannnn!

8 years after glitter she got back into the world of acting when Lee Daniels gave her another chance in smaller films, and then a big time movie "Precious"...which showed Mariah in a totally different light I mean her beat hair, an beat face we're all gone an she had to play a bare faced social worker. Her performance was so raw that she earned a few awards an it redeemed her in the world of acting! So after reading this part of the book it just shows how Mariah got knocked down but she came back up an we got to read in full retrospect how she fought her way back, and I don't think these pop starts will ever have that resilience.
