Pond Day

Angrily slumping away your days
Choosing to mentally imprison yourself
Life is bleak and foggy behind your eyes
Scarring your life, skin, and health
A sad existence, pushing through lies

Someday I'll peer inside your mind
I'll be a guest in your theater of sorrow
I'll bear witness to what you left behind
And give back the thoughts I borrowed

Your aura shines with pain
Yet you dream of something more
Your mind is yours to rein
Yet your heart is to the door

That day we decided to go searching
Sauntering through the crisp winter woods
We both feel no urge to hurt
Briefly taking down our hoods

I glimpsed a moment of peace
Perhaps right now, you see chances
Perhaps right now, your hate has ceased
Maybe this slows your brain's dances

We will go home
You'll pretend to be strong
But I hope you remember
How you felt at the pond
