The next day the old man returned again.

After I have decided my goal to become a Mystic, I absolutely have to start with the new activities, so I have to study, learn swordmanship and magic, becoming a Mystic will not be easy.

This time the old man, instead of starting the lesson immediately, pulled out of the bag that he carries with him a fairly large crystal ball. Its color is a dull gray and it looks quite old.

"this object is used to determine the elements, put your hand on the sphere and it will change color according to your element" he said

I put my hand on the sphere

It was as cold as if I had touched a block of ice

"Now focus and try to unleash your power to release your mana into the sphere" said my tutor

I didn't quite understand what I have to do, but somehow I tried to concentrate

At this moment I felt something inside me circulating, it was a strange form of energy that was being generated from the center of my stomach

This must probably be mana

it's a weird feeling it almost feels like blood circulation but more noticeable, all of my mind was focused on following this weird energy

I then tried to send the energy towards my hand

The sphere that was dull gray now began to glow

'I wonder what element Shina has, most likely it will be water or air as my new parents have these elements, also they both suit a calm and kind girl like Shina very well. Earth or fire can also appear but the odds are very low'

Since Shina was an extra, she and Maryrose weren't very characterized, their roles were very secondary

The light took on a white color, like the one assumed by the clouds

'So it's air, good'

However, the color changed again to a dark blue color, similar to the ocean

'Ah no, so it's water, well I like that too'

The color went back to white and then back to blue again, this color exchange situation seemed to never end and this crazy alternation went faster and faster

'What the hell is going on?'

After five minutes the sphere calmed down and stopped at an intermediate color: a light blue

this color reminded me somehow the color of the ice

I look at my teacher who also had a frown

"So what element do I have?"

'Deep blue should be water, white is air, but why is mine light blue?'

My tutor looks at me and says with a surprised voice: "I would have explained it later but I didn't think you were a mutant?"

"?????????"

WHAT?!

A mutant ? Am I an x-men ?or a rare and unique alien species?

Seeing my puzzled and even almost frightened gaze he began to explain, holding back the laughter: "the elements beyond light and darkness are 4: Air, Fire, Earth and Water, generally every person has one of these elements, but it can happen, in very rare cases, that a child is not born with one of the 4 elements but with a hybrid, children born hybrid are called mutants "he explains

He tooks a slate and begins to illustrate:  "complementary powers cannot unite, so there are no water-fire, earth-air hybrids, but non-complementary powers do.
