And there it goes... The World is asking for a time out.

We underestimated COVID-19. It spread and affected every single one of us. We thought it was just a simple virus and soon there will be a vaccine available. From what I remember, in 2009 H1N1 flu also known as swine flu. It's called swine flu because in the past, the people who caught it had direct contact with pigs. That changed several years ago when a new virus emerged that spread among people who hadn't been near pigs. During the H1N1 outbreaks you see hand sanitizers everywhere you go, but you are not required to wear a facemask or practice social distancing, You can still go to work and do your regular grocery shopping. There was no panic buying.

COVID-19 is different, We have to quarantine ourselves. People with COVID-19 do not always recognize their early symptoms. Even if you do not have symptoms now, it is possible to transmit COVID-19 before you start showing symptoms or without ever developing symptoms.

You need to quarantine (self-isolate) for 14 days if, you:

are returning from travel outside of your country (mandatory quarantine)had close contact with someone who has or is suspected to have COVID-19 have been told by public health that you may have been exposed and need to quarantine (self-isolate)

Quarantine (self-isolate) means that for 14 days you need to:

stay at home and monitor yourself for symptoms, even just one mild symptom avoid contact with other people to help prevent transmission of the virus prior to developing symptoms or at the earliest stage of illness your part to prevent the spread of disease by practicing physical distancing  in your home monitor yourself for symptoms, such as new or worsening cough shortness of breath or difficulty breathing temperature equal to or over 38°C feeling feverish chills fatigue or weakness muscle or body aches, loss of smell or taste and ache gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting)feeling very unwell take and record your temperature daily (or as directed by your public health authority)avoid using fever-reducing medications (e.g., acetaminophen, ibuprofen) as much as possible these medications could mask an early symptom of COVID-19

Remember, this is a killer that is not visible to our naked eye.

And then the LOCKDOWN. We all stop for a while, only the Health Care Workers and Essential Workers can go to work. Everyone else stays home.

No traffic, the gas price went down for a while. We started to live within our means. We see that the world actually stops the usual daily routine.

Remember when we always wish for more days-off? If we are lazy going to school? When we complain about not having much time at home with our family? When we don't have time to visit our loved ones and now you just wish you can see them, hug them in person but you can only see them via live chat or from afar.
