Soobin ran. He ran as fast as he could.
After hearing that story, of why Yeonjun's father left, memories came flooding back. One memory was why he was running.

___

-two months before separation-

Soobin climbed under the table (hiding from the imaginary monster) when Yeonjun lifted the table cloth.

"Aw, the monster saw me!" Soobin whined, pushing Yeonjun away. Yeonjun laughed. "Haha!"

"I'm an angry monster and I'm gonna eat you now!" Soobin 'scarily' threatened, chasing Yeonjun around the room. Yeonjun ran out of the room, then out of the building. None of the adults noticed so Soobin followed, cute 'rawr's escaping his mouth.
They ended up at a warehouse, and Yeonjun ran up the unstable staircase, Soobin still following closeby.

Both boys were so into their game, that they hadn't realised they had reached the 10th floor, the top floor.

Yeonjun pushed open a door and the boys were greeted with a stunning rooftop view.

They ran over to the ledge, being too short to look over properly. "Wow, Soobin look! I can see your pretty house from here!" Yeonjun pointed to the rose-covered house. He was never allowed to go in, because Soobin's father was scary and mean. Soobin pointed to the playground they frequently met at. "Look, the swings!"

"Binnie, let's meet here forever and ever!" Yeonjun said, smiling at the younger. "Okay, promise!" They hooked pinkies and connected thumbs. "Promise," Yeonjun whispered.

After that, the boys went there whenever they had troubles or missed each other. But the meetings stopped when their parents got involved. Soobin arrived at the warehouse and saw his father's car pull up. "Soobin!"

"Why did you follow me?" The warehouse was a secret, and despite forgetting about it, he wanted to keep it that way.  Rain starts to fall and Soobin's looks up at the clouds, letting the cold water refresh him. Before he looks down, something catches his eye.
Yeonjun, on the roof.

His mind immediately thought of the worst. Soobin runs toward the building, ignoring his father calling his name. The rain is heavy and cold now, causing his clothes to cling onto his body. He looks for a way up to the roof and sees a door, slightly ajar. He enters the building and dashes up the stairs, praying that Yeonjun was okay.
Finally, he reached the top.
Yeonjun was too close to the edge, soaked due to the rain falling.

"Jun-ah! please come!" Soobin called out, his voice shaking. Jun didn't answer, he just stood still. "I'm sorry! It was my fault! All of it! So please get down!"

Yeonjun turned his head and smiled. It was so broken and sad. "Go home Soobin. Just forget about me."

"I-I can't! I love you too much!" Soobin stepped forward, causing the elder to step forward himself. Even closer to the edge. "Stop, Soobin...we forgot each other before, you can do it again."

"Okay, fine! Please don't jump!" Soobin begged, his hope running thin. Yeonjun looked over the railing, at the fast cars and busy people, and sighed. "I don't know why you're scared. Personally, the possibility of death...of being free, is so warm"

"Yeonjun-"

"You don't get it! Before you came, I felt so...tired. To be honest, I was planning to end it all, I just didn't make it obvious. Fuck, you really cured me, Soobin, but now it's all useless. I'm so stupid. I'm so stupid to think everything was okay. I'm so stupid."

"No-"

Yeonjun climbed onto the railing and fell forward. Soobin rushed ahead and caught hold of the elder's shirt. Yeonjun pushed him away, but his grip tightened. "LET ME GO!"
"Please, Yeonjun-"

"Why are you trying to keep me here?! It hurts too much-" Soobin pulled him into a tight embrace, enduring the hits he received. Yeonjun sobbed into Soobin's chest, his hits getting weaker and weaker. "Let me go..." He croaked, his voice cracking. Soobin felt tears forming in his eyes and soon enough he was sobbing along with Yeonjun.
"I'm sorry, Hyung, I'm so sorry..." He sobbed, holding Yeonjun tighter.

It seemed that they were happy and sad together, that their hearts were one in every way.
