After Class

Shēnyuān's POV

"4:30 PM, the time students get to go home, the entire day was nothing but the teachers introducing who they are and what subject they teach..." I thought to myself as I wrote down the last subject teacher.

"Ok students, thank you for giving your time for us to introduce ourselves, since school has ended for the day, you may leave the class after our prayer." Miss Lin said and everyone stood up. "Shēnyuān, would you like to do the prayer today?" Miss Lin added and I nodded.

"Are all students ready to pray? If so let us start the end prayer." I said, and started to recite the end prayer.

I then finished the prayer and looked up. "In the name of The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit, Amen. May everyone have a good day." I said, sitting back down, packing my books in my bag. "Thank you Shēnyuān, now everyone may go home if you don't have anything else to ask." Miss Lin announced before all the students ran out of the classroom.

"So are you gonna go out to?" Wèifú asked with his backpack behind his back, ready to leave the room. "Just packing my books, I've been reading this romance novel for a while." I answered tucking my book into my bag.

After bagging my book, I wore it on my back and bowed to the teacher. "Good day ma'am." I said and Miss Lin nodded before replying. "Good day Shēnyuān, stay safe."

I nodded and walked out of the room with Wèifú following me. "You're much more different than the other students. "Wèifú said as we walked down the hall. "What do you mean by that?" I mumbled glaring at him.

"Different but not a bad thing, I'm just saying you're much more formal than the other students." Wèifú explained trying to keep up to me.

"Alright then, you're spared for the day, now leave me alone, I need to get back home and study." I said walking towards the entrance gate to see Rito standing near.

"Ah Shēnyuān, ready to leave?" Rito asked and I looked at him confused. "Ready? What do you mean?" I asked and Rito tilted his head.

"Oh, Shénguāng said I'm walking you home, didn't Shénguāng tell you that?" Rito replied and Wèifú looked at us. "Who's Shénguāng?" He asked and I sighed.

"Shénguāng is his older brother, he's enrolled in a different school where his class ends later." Rito said and I stared at him. "So you're like my guardian now?" I said and Rito nodded.

"In a way, yes. I am your guardian, anyways, let's bring you back home before it gets dark." Rito said grabbing my hand and we started walking, leaving Wèifú back in the school.

"So how was your first day of school Shēnyuān?" Rito asked looking at me, and I replied. "Just the teachers introducing themselves and what they do. Nothing too exciting or fun."

"Oh, well what did it feel like? Any issue with the students?" Rito asked as we walked a bit faster. "I think some of them remembered who I am, but others either don't remember or haven't seen me yet." I replied trying to pick up to the pace.

"Do you think you can keep doing this for the rest of the school year?" Rito asked again and I looked a little annoyed. "What is this? A personal survey?" I said, humoring Rito.

"I mean, Shénguāng did tell me to ask you about your day, I just want to ask so I can answer him tonight through text." Rito said and I started to think. "Well, if you need an answer... Yes, I can keep doing this throughout the year." I replied with a smile, making Rito blush.

"Stop with your adorable smile, you're making it hard to look at you seriously." Rito mumbled covering his mouth. "Do you find me attractive or something?" I asked, making Rito blush more.

"N-Not at all! You just have a attractive face, that's all..." Rito said, making me smile. "Well, that's a nice way of calling me cute." I mumbled as we walked past a modern house with a black roof and white exterior.

"Oh right, I forgot to ask, can I see your AI soon? I wanted to see how it's coming along." Rito said and I smiled. "Its already done, come to my house on Saturday then I can show you Ren Zhi without any school work keeping me busy."

"Really? You must be talented then, you're young yet you've already made an AI. Is it like a weak AI? Or is it like a strong one that has self-awareness?" Rito asked as we walked towards closer and closer to my house.

"I'm home now, does that mean you'll keep walking until you reach yours?" I asked and Rito nodded. "Yeah, I just need to walk back then I should get back to my house." Rito said before turning around and started walking.

"H-Hey! Wait!" I yelled, regaining Rito's attention. "Something wrong Shēnyuān?" He asked looking like nothing was wrong.

"You should've told me your house back there." I said looking sad and Rito shook his head. "It's fine, it's only a little bit back, it's that modern house we passed, the one you were staring at for a few seconds while we passed it." Rito explained and I sighed.

"You should've just went to your house instead of walking with me." I said looking sad and Rito walked closer to me.

Once he was right next to me, he patted my head and smiled. "At least come in and have a glass of tea before you leave, it's the best I can do for you." I mumbled and he nodded. "Fine, if that'll make you feel better, I'll stay for a few minutes. Plus I am a little thirsty right now, so a little tea won't be too bad."

I smiled and walked Rito into my house and sat him down on the couch as I brewed some tea. And as I brewed the tea I mumbled out loud. "I'm glad you're my best friend Rito..." Then I heard a laugh.

"I'm glad you're my best friend too Shēnyuān." Rito replied and I looked at him embarrassed and yelled. "You heard that!?"

"Yup! And I am happy you're happy!" He replied and I pouted.
