Luke had left early that morning, so I could get ready for school. My mom had called and told me her and my dad wouldn't be home until Tuesday, making my morning even better. Luke left his flannel here last night, so I decided to wear it with my outfit. It smelled like vanilla and cinnamon, which could be used to accurately describe the way he smelled. It made me feel warm, and safe, like how I was whenever I'm with Luke.

I got to school with a few minutes to spare before first period. After practicing all last week with Ezra it was time for our final performance in class. I put my things in my locker and shut it,  revealing Luke on the other side of the door.

"Ah!" I jumped. "People don't do that, and ghosts definitely shouldn't" I smiled at him. "Well good morning Ms. Green. I am loving your outfit today." he said knowingly. "Really? I wasn't so sure, this flannel's kind of bland." I teased. "Don't even try Riles, you know you love it." he said as he smiled.

"I came to ask you what song you think we should play tonight. I was thinking... Great?" he said as he scratched the back of his head. God is he cute, I thought. "One second" I took out my phone and put it against my ear. "You're just gonna take a call while we're talking? Do you know how rude-" "Hi, Luke! Thanks for calling! Otherwise people might think I'm talking to myself." "Right, nice." he said as he realized what I was doing.

"I think Great is a great choice" I said and giggled at my play on words. "You are such a goof Riles. Why don't you just ditch school? Let's go rehearse" he said, eyebrows furrowing.

"I wish I could, but I have to perform today for my dance class. Ezra's my partner and I can't just ditch him." I said as I saw Ezra coming towards me. "And look! He's coming this way! Gotta go bye."

"Hey Green. You ready for our performance?" Ezra said. "Yeah! We're gonna do great!" I smiled.

"Well don't you look sharp." Luke said as he peered over Ezra's shoulder. I shot him a look as Ezra kept talking. "Even after all that practice, I still think I'm gonna mess up." he said, chuckling. "No, stop it. You'll be fine."

"Uh oh, I think somebody has a crush on Riley!" Luke said as he gasped. "Shut up," I hissed. Ezra looked at me, confused. "I mean, shut up!" I laughed as I jokingly pushed his shoulder, which went through Luke's.

"Seriously Riles, I'm nothing without you." Ezra said. Luke an I immediately made eye contact. He looked angry, and I can tell why. That's his nickname. I completely forgot to respond to Ezra. "Everything okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, sorry. I just don't really like that nickname." I said, trying my best to play it off. Luke laughed from behind Ezra. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize." "No worries, you couldn't have known. See you in there?" I said sweetly.

"For sure, I'll be the guy trying not to mess up" Ezra said as he backed away. Luke copied every one of his movements and followed him down the hall. He turned back around, pointing his thumb behind him as he walked towards me. "Well he is just too cute!" he said. I rolled my eyes at him. "Aww, is somebody jealous Mr. Patterson?" I teased.
