"Danny! Danny!!" Adrian called.

I chuckled,"Yes, what is it baby bro?"

"Mum wants you in the backyard-we're having a picnic!" Adrian mused, yanking my arm. I hesitated, but pressed the send button on my english assignment before I stood up. I had to turn in an essay the next day, and it was an important part of my grade.

"C'mon, c'mon!! She's waiting!" He giggled, prying me away from my computer. I shook my head happily as I followed him out of my room.

"Alright, lets go Ade...-race ya!" I yelled cheekily, dashing into the long, narrow hallway. I heard Adrian wildy giggle behind me while trying to catch up; We ran down the stairs, Adrian barely catching up to me just as we stormed into the kitchen.

"Boys! Boys!!" she chuckled, "Calm down, or you wont get any of my famous malteser cake!" She threatened, while putting on her red oven mits.

There she was. The most important girl in my world. There she stood, wearing her outragiously embarrassing 'kiss the cook' apron with a bit of flour sprawled across her right cheek. Her golden brown eyes stared brightly at Adrian as she showed him the cake she had just barely taken out of the oven, making the the aroma in the air smell sweet and chocolatey. Her crazy, curly coconut brown hair was tied back into a messy ponytail, in an attempt for it to not get in her face. She was gorgeous. Her bright smile perfectly lit up the room, giving off pure radiance. The corners of her eyes crinkled on the sides when she smiled, kinda like me. Her and Adrian had different smiles altogether though, as they had two dimples on their cheeks, unlike me who only had one. I was always quite envious of that. Her mixture of a hyeena laugh with a snort was so perfectly unperfect...it made her seem so- alive. She had flaws, yes, but I loved her regardless....

Especially when she made malteser cake.

"Hey mum." I finally said, walking into the kitchen from the livingroom. The smile never left my face; I was happy.

"Hey, whats up with you kiddo?" She asked giving me a weird look.

"Nothing, nothing...just very happy to have you both." I said, glancing between both of them and grabbing the picnic basket off the island counter with the blanket. It felt scratchy in my hand, but soft in a weird way. She giggled and shook her head.

"Oh Dan, you're the sweetest little thing!" She said, ruffling my curly hair. I beamed, and adjusted my black rimmed glasses.

"Hey I'm sweet too!" Adrian countered, pouting.

"You're wrong you turnip! Mum loves me more!" I said sticking my tongue out. He scrunched his nose annoyed.

"Well thats because you're an ass kisser you twat. Mum loves me more!" He argued, turning to her. I did as well. She was already outside though, under the big oak tree, of course.

"What? You guys argue more than some gossip girls at a salon!" She yelled, making Adrian and I burst into a fit of giggles.

Still elbowing eachother, we joined her in the backyard. It was cool, but the sun shown bright enough to make your skin feel warm. It was nice. The sound of birds chirping off into the distance flowed through the air, and small blooms of flowers peaked from the grass. A beautiful combination of purples, whites, and pinks sprawled all over the garden. About two or three butterflies fluttered around, making it a perfect day for a picnic. I spread out the blanket and passed out the sandwiches, as my mother got the plates. Adrian was trying to catch a butterfly off somewhere while we started to eat in pure bliss.
