The Path That Lies Ahead

Mitch and Marlon carry two dead bodies to a freshly dug up hole about six feet deep while you just watch almost paralyzed in some kind of trance, you only snaps out of it when Clementine grabs your attention

Clementine: Hey Y/N are you okay, I asked if you wanted to say a few words

Y/N: Huh? Oh um yes, sure

You close yours eyes for some seconds before opening them once and speaking up

Y/N: I... I um didn't know you that long James but you saved more than once, you deserved better... So much better

Clem rests her hand on your shoulder well you stand in front of a six foot deep hole with two bodies inside of it needlessly killed by a stupid belief, they were both brainwashed by the Whisperers but only one of them broke out of the trance it seemed

Y/N: I understand why you didn't want to kill anymore or fight I've seen what can come from it now...

You walk away from the sight and sit down near a tree while your mind begins to drift

Clementine: Thank you for saving us more than once, if not for you we'd all be dead or worse now James...

Clem covers up the hole, as the others stands around it and you lay against a tree in complete shock

Y/N: I tried to do the right thing, reunite a lost couple but it ended bad, he saved my ass back there so many times yet in the end I could never return the favor.... He was just beginning to take his life back then it got snuffed away like he was a dog...

The dirt now covered the hole completely with a makeshift cross in the dirt on top of it, it read on there "James and Charlie, for the boy who just wanted peace"

Clementine: Let's go Y/N, we have a long walk ahead of us

You slowly reach back to your feet and limp towards the rest of the group

Mitch: Here let me help you, Y/N

Clementine: You should speak for yourself Mitch, what about that nasty cut you got back there

Mitch: It wasn't that bad as Y/N thought, I can help him fine.... Here give me your arm, Y/N

Y/N: Sure....

You do as he says without any hesitation or second thoughts and continue on walking

Marlon: What's that up ahead

Clementine: Huh, somethings carved into that tree

You take a small glance at it, recognizing the symbol

Y/N: It's a swastika, the Nazi's symbol they used

Mitch: Who?

Y/N: Uh, from World War Two, the Germans attacked and gassed a lot of the Jews... cause of Hitler, doesn't ring a bell

Mitch: Well we didn't have much education after the second grade

Y/N: We have a library in our school, that's full of up to hundreds of books

Mitch: I don't like reading, it's boring

Y/N: It's read or sit there bored

Mitch: I don't care

Y/N: Uh, sure fine

You continue on walking on for some time as Mitch helps you around, but the pain only seems to get worse and worse as time goes on
