"Don't leave me, Jack!"

I hang my head in defeat. The kid won't get it. I crouch in front of Jamie and put my hands on his shoulders.

"Jamie, I have to. I have to do my job. Count 8 years and I'll be with you for as long as you want."

"But what if I stop believing, what if I can't see you anymore?" He pleaded.

"Do you ever think I'm not real? Can you not see me now?" I said.

He hung his head. "No and yes."

"Alright, so don't doubt me now," I chuckled.

He was 8 years old, don't blame him for worrying.

"You promise?" He said in that adorable voice.

"I promise."

He nodded and smiled a full grin with those two missing teeth in the front. I gave him a smirk and a nod.

I stood up and turned towards that wide open gray sky. I turned back to him.

"Merry Christmas, Jamie," with that I grabbed tight to my staff and flew up.

"Merry Christmas, Jack!! See you in 8 years!!" I heard him shout towards me.

I smiled and waved my hand to cause a light snow storm.

Boy, do I love that kid.
