When the police finally arrived she was fighting for her life. He had his hands wrapped around her throat and she was kicking in an attempt to get him off. They broke down the door right as the stars appeared in her vision. The blood was rushing so hard in her ears she couldn't hear the first gunshot. But she felt his body jerk. The second gunshot rang loudly in her ears and the third made her freeze. Within seconds his movements stilled as the blood poured out of him. She watched his eyes glaze over. She felt his last breath race out of his lungs. It wasn't until the officer pulled his body off her that she sucked in a deep lungful of air and began to cry.
