ANOTHER COUPLE OF DAYS WENT BY, AND VEDA HAD PRACTICALLY DISAPPEARED FROM THE MEDIA. She rarely spoke in any Discord server, and the only person she was consistently talking to was Sapnap—only on the phone, though. Social media contained not a singular trace of Veda's presence.
It was evening, a pleasant Tuesday night, and Veda was playing some duels with Sapnap. Her phone was set up resting against her newer monitor, as was his, the FaceTime call going on two hours.
"Jesus, how did you just clutch that—" she huffed, sitting back in her chair and sipping her water bottle.
He laughed, leaning back in his own chair and watching her through his screen. "I got the skills of a god, what do you expect? To win? 'Cause I ain't letting that happen."
Veda rolled her eyes, and they loaded into another match, head to head once more. This carried on for another twenty minutes, winning streaks being lost and passed back and forth.
"Ok, I'll give you this, Nick: you're barely better at PvP than me, but if it came down to actual knowledge of the game, or redstone, I'd have your ass underground in minutes."
Sapnap sighed, closing his eyes and soaking in his victory. "That's all I needed you to say."
"Wanna play Bedwars?" she inquired, ignoring his mockery. He hummed, contemplating her offer. Then he picked up his phone, going on pause.
"Uh, no, I have another idea," he mumbled. "Go check your front porch."
Veda's head tilted, looking at him as he put his camera back at where it was previously.
"What'd you do?"
He scoffed, giggling. "You'll see. Now go check your front porch and take your phone with you."
Veda gave in, and grabbed her phone, traveling downstairs to her front door. When she opened it, there was a tall box in front of her.
"What the hell?"
Sapnap continued laughing, eagerness and impatience building up inside him. "Open it!"
Dragging the box inside, she wasted no time clawing off the tape and prying up the flaps. Staring up at her was an oversized stuffed animal.
"What is this?" she questioned, beginning to join in his laughter. He didn't answer, just went on snickering while she hauled the teddy bear out of its box.
