Sonic the Hedgehog was originally supposed to be an antagonist. Yup, you read that right: the blue blur himself was supposed to be the ultimate bad guy. The reason why he was originally written as the antagonist was only because he was supposed to be a parody of my own mother. When people who met me read my rough drafts, the parody practically sailed over their heads. So I had to rework the idea due to confusion, even though writing Sonic as the bad guy was fun. Another reason why his antagonist side did not make the cut was because no matter what way I wrote Sonic, he always ends up being way too fast for the main character. Plus, the Werehog was originally supposed to act like a combination between bad guy, campus safety and a real threat to the main character. It did not work...
