Annie could feel the muscles of her chin tremble like a small child, There's static in her head once more, the side effect of the constant fear, constant stress she lived with.
"Anna?" At the sound of her mother's trembling voice, It takes somethin...

"Stop it." Anna said, staring out onto the roads. "Stop what?" Polly feigned innocence, holding tighter onto the handle on the ceiling. "I can feel you judging my driving." Anna said, turning a corner. "I'm not judging anything." Polly said, leaning further into her seat. "Let go of the handle, then." Anna insisted, sparing her one glance before looking back towards the road, it had started to get increasingly darker, it was a good thing they were close to Ada's. Polly hesitantly freed the handle from her firm grip, and let it fall to her lap. "For someone so responsible, your driving is horrendous." Polly joked, hoping the next turn wouldn't be so sharp. "Responsible?" Anna snorted. Polly thought it was a plausible assumption. "Well that's the aura you give off, anyway." She explained, Anna chuckled. "Common mistake. Because I'm quiet doesn't mean I'm responsible, I think Alison is more responsible than me, actually."
"That's what motherhood does to you." Polly nodded.
"God forbid I ever join motherhood." Anna chuckled, Polly perked up. "Hey! Don't knock it til' you try it, I still want grandbabies."
Anna looked about on the verge of hyperventilating at the thought of being a mother. "Well that leaves Michael." She chuckled, although she missed her brother too much.
Parking was easy to find, and Anna parked right across the road from Ada's home. "I missed London." Anna sighed, breathing the clear air in. "Best city in the world." She muttered, recalling the memories. The night she ran from catholic school invaded her thoughts, Alison was there with her, their hands clasped in each other's as they ran towards the nearest train station without even any money to pay for a train. They boarded the train and pretended to be sound asleep when the the ticket man came, it was all chance, but they managed to pull it and got home.
Polly threw her cigarette to the floor and put it out with her heel, with one hand holding a bag, she grabbed Anna's hand with her other and pulled her along. "Come on" she said as they crossed the road. They climbed the steps to her door and Polly raised a gloved hand to the door, knocking firmly against it. The door pushed forward, revealing a bare faced Ada, standing in her night gown. "'Ello." She grinned, Polly was the first to step forwards encasing her in a warm hug. Ada pulled back, her gaze flickered to the blonde on her doorstep, she grinned wider, Anna smiled back this time, "Missed ya' face." Ada chuckled, trapping her in another hug. Anna reciprocated it, but she was still hesitant.
"Missed you too." She smiled.
Everything about this family confused her, but the thing that seemed to puzzle her the most was that everyone liked her.
She couldn't understand why.
Ada ushered them inside. The home was lovely, large and welcoming, she sighed at the instant warmth. Something small collided into Anna legs, the giggling thing wrapped it's arms around her knees. She looked down towards a head of blonde hair, she instinctively reached down and ran her hands through the little one's hair, like she'd gotten so used to doing with Mason. "This is Karl." Ada chuckled, he was gone just as quickly as he'd appeared, running off to God knows where. "Your son." Anna nodded, recalling Tommy mentioning him. "Come on," They followed her into a open living room, "I have tea and biscuits-"
