past chapter:

In one night, she'd cheated on a man, made love to a man and broke a man's heart.

Anna wondered if that's all people are in store for, once they welcome her to into their life.

Pain, pain and pain.

The rain masked the tears spilling down her face, she attempted to wipe her face dry but only succeeded at smudging her black liner. It made her appear as though she'd not slept for several days, and the notion seemed a bit forthcoming given the night she'd had. The weight on her chest felt unbearable, already. And, she wasn't able to just sigh it away this time. Anna was so sure the universe hated her, that's the only explanation for the life she'd been subjected to. It made a deep hatred grow inside of her because how can one be so cruel? She wouldn't have wished her life on her biggest enemy.

Anna pushed open the door to the watery lane home, finding it already unlocked. She trudged in, silently. She knew something wasn't right and the sight before her made her heart drop into her stomach. Her mother stood in tears, her back hunched and a knife in her hands. Anna looked up to see the portrait of her in shreds. It was a strange contrast. The woman in the portrait stood tall and proud ... the woman before her looked, well ... shattered.

It was that moment Anna knew she loved Polly.

Because, an anger brewed inside of her like a nasty infection, painting her insides dark. It was a homicidal feeling, the need to destroy the person responsible for this.

She put that all aside for the moment.

"Hey, Polly.." she murmured, softly as she reached her, holding her by the shoulders g get her to look at her. "mum." This time polly looked at her, her brown eyes still full to the brim with tears. "What is it?" Anna asked, her brow quirking. "He'll never forgive me." She whispered. Anna frowned at that. Polly looked to the grown, relaying what had happened before speaking again.

"Tommy got in my head. He said, the only reason Ruben was with me was to get to him."

In that moment Anna wanted to be the one to shut the coffin lid on Tommy Shelby.

"I questioned him..." Polly stopped herself and laughed humourlessly, before correcting herself. "I threatened him. And- he was innocent." Her voice cracked again as the tears came back up. "Oh, mummy." Anna says as she engulfs her mother in a hug. Polly's knees suddenly go weak and Anna follows her to the ground, still holding her, with the intention of never letting go, not when she needs her like this.

"Fuck. Them." Anna grits the words out of her teeth. Polly pulls away, her brows furrowing.

"We don't need them. You don't need them. it can be just us, Polly. You, me and Michael."

She lost her then, Anna saw her eyes turn to the ground at the sound of Michael's name. Anna didn't know this but Polly knew Michael was too far gone now. He wanted to follow in Tommy's footsteps, and it would be his downfall. She didn't need tea leaves to see that.

"just us, then." Anna offered, Polly's eyes caught hers again and she smiled and nodded. "just us." Polly agreed. It was all she would need. She wondered if Anna knew how much she loved her. It was as if her heart lived outside of her body, with blonde hair, and the most precious dimples.

Tommy couldn't understand what the fuck Anna's problem was. He could feel her drilling a hole into the side of his head. He could feel everyone's anger, really. He hadn't exactly planned the series of events that had transpired. But, he was ready to compensate everyone. He'd payed off practically everyone, and when he'd gotten to Michael Polly had stood up, something inside her broke at the thought of Tommy paying Michael for the crimes he shouldn't have had to commit.

"Yesterday, I nearly lost my son. You should fucking understand that." Anna's top lip turned up, practically disgusted by him. With everything that'd happened with Charlie, she couldn't find it in her to feel sorry for him. He'd snitched to the parish about her and had her taken away. She still didn't know what for, and he didn't have the faintest clue that she knew. She hadn't even told Polly her newfound information.

Regardless of her anger, she'd gotten up to her feet to hug Arthur goodbye. He was due to be on a boat to America with his wife Linda. She was an interesting woman, that no one else seemed to like much but Anna took a small liking to her. There was something about how devoted she was to her Lord that made Anna miss the girl she used to be. She would pray to God on her hands and knees before bed everyday, and not just because it was mandated in the orphanage, but because she wanted to. Anna offered Linda a light touch on the arm and a smile.

The last thing Anna remembered doing that night was watching her mother and brother be dragged away by coppers.

Oh how she hated Tommy Shelby.

A/n will anna ever forgive Tommy?
Does he deserve to be forgiven?
Let me know your thoughts on this chapter!!
I really want Polly and Anna to have a unique bond. I feel like Michael never cherished Polly like he should've and most of the characters in the show took her for granted.
I want Anna to be the one to show her she's so loved and them to have the relationship where they'd kill anyone that would even say anything out of line abt them, they deserve that
