I remember having this conversation with my father about things that were scary to a twelve-year-old me.

I asked him what ghosts were afraid of, he told me they were scared of faith. That night, I learned that spiders were scared of brave girls, and monsters were scared of laughter.

I was ready to go to sleep, feeling like the bravest girl in the world. But as my father walked away, I remember asking him about the one I feared the most.

"Papa, what is the devil afraid of?"

He smiled at me as he turned on my little night light, "Oh darling, he's afraid of love."

"But why?"

"Because when you love someone, they stop being bad."
