CHAPTER TWELVE
“Are you sure you are going to be able to make it to the meeting tomorrow mam?” Anna Bezxavc asked her mistress, concern eliminating her usually perfectly cultured outlook as Ellie, her mistress walked into the room from the bathroom, her steps shaky.

“You know that is the only way we get Zoael back Anna.” Ellie said, as the Empuria pulled back the cover for her. Ellie was Zoael’s mate and her uniqueness had linked them both in ways no one knew or understood.

She’d been aware of her abilities once Zoael had transformed her into an Empuria, and he’d kept her power their secret, aware that the other dominion could react in unprecedented ways if they knew her kind existed.

Ellie wandered if she could take down the angels as powerful as the dominions with her Valkyrie powers unlocked.

She had read extensively about her kind and knew of some of the gift she could possess should the Valkyrie queen arise and unlock the power that now lay dormant.

The dominions were doing something to her mate, and whatever it was, she could also feel the drain on her, she could silence their link, ability a Valkyrie possessed after going through the first stage of their bonding, right now, that was all that was keeping her together, even though it was threatening to kill her.

If she severed her ties to him now it would be harder to find him. Mohel and Taquzinel, angels loyal to Zoael had been holding the vast territory of Russia in their master’s stead, and with her coming in and out of commission due to her link with Zoael, she left the heavy work to them. Zoael trusted them and so would she.

“There haven’t hurt him.” Ellie began saying. “So that means we have our window before the start the process all over again in a couple of days. I will not be at full strength but I think I can handle it.”

“Do you think the archangel will believe you?” Anna asked skeptical that her mistress thought the Archangel would believe her story about the dominions kidnapping Zoael and planning something that would change the entire planet as they knew it. He had fought alongside some of them especially Jopel.

“Zoael trusted he would help, we just have to try.” Ellie replied.

“Travel’s last report was disturbing." Travel controlled they informants in the inner circle of Jopel’s court, and also was the head of the elite spy unit for the Dominion of Russia and its surrounding nations. “The other dominions are producing a lot of Empurias at a faster rate and if Zoael was right that they were planning something big I don’t think they would, or planned to kill him.”

“That will be suicidal to go against an archangel.” Ellie said. “I have seen what he can do.”

“We cannot underestimate the dominions. He might be an archangel, but that does not make him immune to death and if he dies…”

“Tomorrow we will know everything.” Ellie said cutting her friend off. Although their relationship was one that saw Anna playing the devil’s advocate at a time like this. That quality was something that made her prepared for the worst, and had been able to secure her a position as head of Mount Cloud security; Ellie didn’t need the negativity right now. “I just hope Zoael is okay. I don’t trust Jopel and the others to keep their words.”

Ellie closed her eyes, once again cursing her weakness. If only she had a way of finding the queen of the Valkyries and convincing her to unlock the powers of the Valkyrian army maybe they would stand a chance against the dominion and their angels. But then she could be anyone, from the ignorant woman working in a grocery store, a musician travelling the world, to one whoring after the Empurias.
She was indeed tired and it made her heart ache because she knew this, what she felt wasn’t just her feeling but Zoael’s as well. Wherever he was, whatever they were doing to him was draining him on some fundamental levels.
