Heartwarming

"Finally, I can rest assured that the team will be in good hands when us seventh years leave!" Adelaide exclaimed, raising her cup of pumpkin juice.

"You sound like some drunk inn patron," Regulus grumbled. "Stop, it's embarrassing."

"Oh, lighten up, Black," Lucinda rolled her eyes and pushed his shoulder. "You should be happy about this. You and (y/n), the supposed Slytherin duo is back. Doesn't this call for celebration?"

"Does celebration really have to be yelling your lungs out in the Great Hall so everyone pays attention over here?" he raised an eyebrow at the captain.

"I have to agree," you cleared your throat. "I've had my fair share of attention."

"You two are no fun," Ansel sighed. "Learn to celebrate. It's like winning a Quidditch cup."

"It is so not like winning a Quidditch cup," you laughed, standing up. "Well, I'm off."

Regulus stood up as well, but you placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him. "Not sure you want to come along, Regs," you smiled to the side, hinting where you were going with your expression.

"Oh no, not that," he sighed exasperatedly as you nodded. "Really? Do you have to go to him?"

"He's your brother, not you-know-who, Regulus. You can say his name," you said. "And yes, I do need to go tell him. You have no idea how much he was looking forward to your validation."

"Not like it would stop him from being with you," Regulus shrugged. "...Anyhow, go. Wouldn't want to keep Mr. Charming waiting."

"You're the Mr. Charming," you smirked and started leaving while he glared at you.

"Oh, and (y/n)!" Regulus called out before you were too far to hear. "If I see him heading anywhere near me with a grin that hints he's going to jump into my arms and thank me, I will hex him."

"That's going too far," you shook your head. "Instead, feel free to try this rather odd object called pepper spray. I heard it works marvelously."

You couldn't hear his answer over the loud mumbling of conversations in the Great Hall, so you waved one more time before leaving. You'd seen the marauders leave only a couple of minutes before you, and they couldn't have made it very far unless they'd encountered Filch, played a prank on him during that short time frame, and were running away.

If that's the case, I'll just have to follow the loud laughter, you shrugged and headed in the direction of the Gryffindor tower since your chances of crossing paths with them would be higher.

You were now impatiently walking, or rather jogging down the halls, looking at every interception, when finally, you spotted the group at the end of a hallway that led to the Fat Lady's portrait.

"Sirius!" you called out, running towards him.

When he turned around, there was not even a yard in distance between the two of you, and that was perfect. You grabbed his Gryffindor tie and pulled him towards you, your lips meeting his. Sirius seemed taken off guard by the kiss, but the shock quickly faded away, and he wrapped his hands around your lower back.

It was a short kiss, but it was as special as the first time it had happened in the gardens of Malfoy manor. There was no stress or worry to be discovered behind it. Hell, you had kissed him in a hallway that wasn't empty, but you hadn't cared less about who was watching.

The butterflies in your stomach were overwhelming, it felt as if they'd make you fly. Your lips parted, but you had stayed in place for a few seconds with your eyes closed and a big smile permanently drawn on your face.
