Chapter 7: Request

Once again, I have to wear the blue patient gown. I stood there and looked at myself in the mirror while the nurse tied the gown together for me.

I wanted to put on the gown by myself, but my hands were shaking so badly that I was incapable of doing anything on my own. My mouth and tongue were all stiff, so I couldn’t talk that easily. I still had difficulty when moving around, so I rarely moved

My sister took me to the nearest clinic as soon as she closed her shop. The doctor there told me I should go to the hospital in order to adjust the dosage according to my symptoms and to observe any side effects.

“Is… is the procedure here… still the same?” Although it was difficult to speak, I tried to talk with the nurse who came to dress me.

“It’s still the same, Thana.” she took me over to sit on the bed. I followed her slowly. “Can you still read other people’s thoughts?”

I smiled a little and replied, “I heard… that you were thinking… why did I come back here?”

The middle-aged, female nurse looked startled. With big eyes, she asked, “Is this really true? The professor told me that you were cured…”

“I’m just joking.”

“Oh! You surprised me! I thought that I would have to increase the dosage instead of lowering it.” She jokingly hit my shoulder. After I could sit on the bed, she came over to me and said, “You look a lot better now, Thana. Now, you look even more attractive and handsome since I last saw you.

“Really?” I softly responded. “Thank you.” I then thought of something. “Oh… Nurse P’…”

“Huh?”

“The doctor… actually, the medical student who came to talk to me while I was in the hospital” I stopped talking for a while because my tongue felt numb and stiff. “Doctor… Thitipat… where is he now? Do you know?”

I wasn’t sure why, but the nurse’s reaction didn’t look normal to me. She looked surprised by my question. “Why do you ask?”

“I just want to… thank him, the one who came to talk to me.” I looked at the nurse’s shocked expression in confusion and asked, “Is there anything wrong?”

The nurse shook her head, “It’s nothing. I have to go see the other patients first.” Then, she walked out of the room which left me very puzzled.

----------------------

Time passed by, and before I knew it, it was already four o’clock in the evening. It was time for food to be served in the ward’s dining room where all the patients will eat together.

A nurse escorted me out of my room. A few minutes after we left, a female medical teacher walked toward me. She has a slim figure, long straight hair, and she was wearing a blue dress that went down to her knees.

I have seen this teacher in the outpatient department twice. However, she is not my doctor, so I have never met her directly.

“You are khun Thana, right?” She asked.

“Yes…”

“My name is Doctor Jintana and I am a psychiatrist professor here. Could you spare about half an hour, so I can talk with you, khun Thana?”

I turned to look at the nurse beside me. She nodded and said, “let’s go talk with the professor, Thana.”

Doctor Jintana took me inside a single treatment room where there was only a sofa and the doctor’s desk. I sat down on the incredibly soft velvet sofa. The doctor sat down on the opposite side of the chair.
