Y/N's POV
2 Days Until Recruiting Day
A dark void engulfs around me. Across the room, Newt is standing there smiling at me. I cannot move. I can't go to him. This is absolute torture. "Newt." I say as my voice echo's through the void. Suddenly as I blink, he appears in front of me, but different this time. He is a crank. He stares at me blankly as I look down at his chest. The knife into the center. I blink again as he's back to normal Newt, but still with the knife inside him. "Why would you do that Y/N." He starts to cry as I use all my might to reach for him. Once I free myself from the my frozen position, I wrap my arms around him as he vanishes into a cloud of dust. "This is cruel! I need to wake up!" I shout to myself smacking my palm against my face. "Wake up!" I yell knowing the sick nightmare I am living. "This isn't a dream Y/N." Newt's voice informs from no where. I turn around as Newt walks up to me, an evil smirk planted onto his face. "You never made it to the safe haven." Newt starts to laugh hysterically. "You died the day we rescued Minho. Everyone was sad, but most were relieved." He mocks. "Stop it." I mumble looking down to the dark floor of the void. "They were happy you were gone." He whispers into my ear. "You're not real." I refuse with anger in my tone. "Oh I'm real alright. I'm as real as your mind wants me to be and by the looks of it... your mind is haunted at the fact that you killed me." Newt laughs. "Shut up." I state clenching my fist tears building up in my eyes. "And you know what the best part is." He starts. "Stop." I demand. "You had the antibodies to save me the entire time. But instead you pierced me in the chest with my own knife." Tears start to stroll down my cheeks "Please, just stop." I close my eyes trying to block all of the lies my mind is trying to tell me. "And you think curing the world will make you feel better about yourself." Newt stands in front of me. I slowly lift my face starring at him. His devious facial expressions. "What? Cant stand it? Cant stand to look at me after what you did!" Newt starts to shout. "I didn't do anything!" I shout pushing him away. His body feels so real as if I'm actually pushing someone away. "Sure you did! You killed me!" He accuses. "Stop!" I cry as he grabs me by the shoulders. "You can't live with yourself! And soon you'll kill them all!" Newt yells.
I sit up hyperventilating, someone holding my shoulders next to me. I stare down at the white bed spread, new and dried tears on my cheeks. I pull my hair away from my face seeing Minho there sitting on the side of my bed. "I was just about to wake you up when you started shouting. Pushing me away. Are you alright?" Minho worriedly questions as my heart beats out of my chest. I look around the room I fell asleep in last night. Everything is exactly as it was before I fell asleep. So it really was a nightmare. "I'm alright." I state looking over at Minho. "Do you want to talk about it?" Minho questions as I quickly shake my head no. I want to forget that as fast as I possibly can. "Well then Amanda made breakfast for us all. She told me to bring you theses scrubs. I guess it's your uniform for training with the doctors." Minho mentions laying the blue scrubs next to me on the bed. "I'll be down in a minute." I say with a fake smile. "Are you sure you're okay?" Minho questions one more time as I smile. "Just a bad dream is all." I brush it off as he stands up making his way out the door. I don't think I can bring myself to tell anyone about that one... not even Minho.
Everyone is inside the kitchen sitting around the giant table. I'm wearing the blue scrubs and my w/c wig. Everyone looks at me as they smile. "W/c looks good on you Y/N." Aris points out as I smile. "Thanks." I sit down in front of a plate of eggs, bacon, and hash browns. "So who is all training?" I question starting off with the bacon. "Thomas, Minho, Gally, and Frypan are going for the guard positions. Y/N, Sonya, Harriet, and Aris are going for the doctors position." Amanda informs as I look over at Aris. "I didn't know you know about being a doctor Aris?" I question as Aris laughs. "You learn a thing or two patchin' up people in the glade." I nod seeing as he has a fair point. "Brenda... you're not going to try?" Thomas questions the brunette. "I know nothing about healthcare. Besides I'd probably be better help outside of the city." Brenda explains. That I can agree with. There's no chance I'm getting in. "Alright everyone. After you finish eating, I will be transferring you to your training." Amanda states as she starts to clean the kitchen. I shut my mouth and start to eat seeing as I have no idea when the next time I'll have a meal this good.
We all stand in the living room as a woman I have not seen yet walks into the penthouse. I look down cautious not to give away my identity. "Everyone. This is Dr. Amy Wilson. She is my head doctor here, and will be teaching the four of you how to get recruited by Wicked." Amanda informs pointing at Aris, Harriet, Sonya, and I. "Don't worry Y/N... she knows about you." Amanda adds as she notices my lack of eye contact. I look over at Dr. Wilson. She has red curly hair and light blue eyes. She looks young like around Amanda's age. Amy slowly walks up to me starring at all my facial features. She carefully takes off the wig revealing my h/c hair. "You look ever more stunning in person Miss. Y/N." She smiles showing her dimple on her left cheek. I give her a small smile back as she slowly puts the w/c wig back on. "As for you guys," Amanda starts looking over at Minho, Thomas, Gally, and Fry, "Shawn here will be training you for these next 2 days. Your training involves running, fighting, operation of a gun, and obedience." The four boys nod their heads. "A couple more things before they take you. First things first... do any of you still have your tags on the back of your necks." Amanda questions the eight of us. "I think theirs needs to be removed." I mention pointing over to Harriet, Sonya, and Aris. "Tags?" Harriet questions. The three of them look so confused. "Amy. Could you take them to the kitchen and explain their Wicked tags? Then take them out?" Amanda asks. "Yes Ma'am!" Dr. Amy Wilson states taking the three of them into the kitchen. "As for you three." Amanda starts walking over to Thomas. "Your name according to the wicked guards is Austin." Amanda assigns as she walks over to Minho. "Yours is Ryder."  She finally walks over to me and stares straight into my e/c eyes. "You're new name is Olivia." *Authors Note* If y/n is actually Olivia, then you can change it. "Alright. Amy will take you four to the hospital to start training. Shawn will be taking you guys to the training session. Good luck to you all." She walks away towards the kitchen to Dr. Wilson along with my Maze group getting their tracers taken out of their necks. My heart starts to pound in worry. "Hey Y/N." I hear Thomas say. I turn to him as he pulls me in for a hug. "Everything's going to be okay. Just lay low." He adds letting go. "You'll do great! Just do what Amy says." Minho comforts me by putting his hand on my shoulder. For them it's easy... they're able to use the techniques they learned in the Maze. As for me, I have no clue what I'm doing. I wasn't a med-jack in the Maze. I was a runner, and I was good at it. This is a whole new aspect... and I have to learn everything in less than 2 days.
Harriet, Sonya, Aris, and I follow Dr. Amy Wilson as she takes us to the hospital. We walk the streets of the city while I finally get a good look at everything. The city isn't huge, but it's a city none the less. There are quite a few people walking around us. There are more adults than children... but every now and then we pass by a child and their mother or father. If only we could help them now. If only Amanda did have the equipment to create the antiviral. But that would just be too easy wouldn't it? My thoughts are pushed away by the sounds of the sliding doers of a building. I'm guessing this is the hospital. We walk inside to a decent sized lobby. Everything is clean here... untouched... as if the virus didn't even hit here. But the trees from the scorching sun says otherwise. Amy turns around towards us. "First they'll check your temperature. Then we will start our first lesson. CPR." The doctor states as she continues to walk towards the security. "Good morning Dr. Wilson." The guard says pulling a thermometer up to her forehead. "Good morning Joe." She greets as her temperature reads 97.9. "Are these people new?" Joe the guard questions starring at the four of us. "Yes!" She starts walking across the black tape on the floor. "These are some of the healthcare associates that were on the boat that docked here yesterday." He nods picking up a pen. "Name please." He stares at Harriet first. "Harriet." She states as he unsuspectingly writes her name. Joe then pulls the thermometer up to her head. The temperature reads 98.1. He turns to look at Sonya as she says her name. He writes it down. Joe then scans Sonya's forehead too. 97.7. "Name?" He asks the only boy. "Aris." he replies as I look over to Amy. She gives me a specific look. Joe pulls the thermometer out reading Aris' temperature as 98.4. "Name?" Joe questions me as Aris moves across the black tape plastered on the floor as a 'clear' sign. I hesitate for a second as Dr. Wilson makes eye contact with me. "Olivia." I answer as he writes down the fake name Amanda gave me. Joe pulls the thermometer up to my forehead as well, the cold surface of it placed against my skin. The temperature reads 98.2. He nods as I successfully step across the black tape. "Okay you guys are clear. I will get you four into the system. Have a great first day... and welcome!" Joe smiles as do the rest of us. Dr. Amy Wilson immediately starts walking towards an elevator. Elevators give me the creeps now. I will never forget when Janson was inside the same elevator as us... without even knowing. We all pile into the elevator as Amy hits the number 4. The doors slowly close as we are taken up to the 4th floor. Small elevator music plays in the background. Before I have time to think about how risky this all is, the doors open showing tons of healthcare workers doing their jobs. "This is where you will be training. Just... try to act like you know what you're doing." Amy whispers as we follow her through the different men and women. "Good morning Dr. Wilson." Someone greets. "I hope you're well this morning!" Someone else speaks. Amy just smiles walking through the people. She takes us to a room and shuts the door behind her. "Alright everyone. This is where I'm going to teach you CPR. Each one of you gets a dummy." She points down to these fake people called 'dummys'. Aris, Sonya, and Harriet take their places next to one as I do the same. Amy gets down onto the floor beside a dummy. "I need you guys to pay close attention. This could save someone's life. It is very important that you know what to do." She continues. "First, you check for a pulse. I always tell my students that you should look on both the neck, and listen for a heart beat. Obviously these are dummy's... so they don't have a heart beat." She explains as she shows us the place to check for a pulse on the neck. Two fingers on the side of the neck. "If you do not feel a pulse, that is when you know to do CPR. So you're going to put one hand in the middle of their chest, and your other hand goes on top of that one. Then you're going to push down hard on their chest in a rhythmical beat. Like so." She demonstrates as she starts to push up and down on the dummy's chest. "You really want to focus on pushing your hand through their chest. It won't do anything if you don't put force behind it." Amy explains stopping her demonstration. She stands up from her feet. "Now you give it a try." She suggests as the four of us crouch down next to the dummies. I take a deep breath. I have to get this right. Especially if I want into that city. I place my hands in the designated spot as I begin to push down exactly as Amy did. "Excellent job Aris." Amy compliments the only boy of the group. "Y/N, try to push a little harder." Dr. Wilson mentions as I start to press down harder on the dummies chest. "Sonya, you're doing great!" Amy Wilson compliments. "Harriet, that's perfect!" She encourages. "Alright you three," she starts talking to Aris, Sonya, and Harriet. "Please wait outside." The doctor requests as they all make their way outside of the room. I slowly stand up with Dr. Wilson starring at me. "Y/N..." she tries before I stop her. "I'm trying Amy. I really am." I convince as she sympathetically places her hand on my shoulder. "I know sweetheart." Before she can say anything else I say, "I'm not supposed to be here Amy. In the Maze, I was a runner. I didn't do anything like this." I inform as she nods. "Health care is not easy Y/N. No one can just come in and learn how to be a doctor in 2 days." She explains as my hopes fall to ashes. "There's no hope for me getting into that city... is there?" I question as she shakes her head. "Don't loose hope yet Y/N! This is only the first in many things I will teach you. It was just a rough start. I'm going to head out there with the others. When you're ready, come and join us." She smiles before turning to walk in the direction of the door. This isn't good, but I have to keep trying. If not for everyone else... in my mind, an image of Newt's face pops up... then for him. I take a deep breath before heading out into the hallway with the other 3 trainees and the trainer.
