Y/N's POV

"It's time to take your daily injection." The automated voice serves as an alarm now. I lay in bed for a second starring up at the ceiling. I can't believe three more people know I'm here. Three strangers that I'm supposed to trust. But something tells me that I can. When I talked to Griffin last night, it wasn't like talking to a stranger. It was like talking to a friend from the Maze. "It's time to take your daily injection." I sigh sitting up from the comfortable bed, "Yea, yea." I walk over to the device gazing at the small spot on my arm from doing these injections the past couple days. I don't even need this stuff, yet I imagine I'll get flagged if I don't take it. What if it's not good for me? What if it does something to my antibodies? I can't put my arm in that... thing. I think for a second. What could they possibly do if I refuse to take it? No that's suspicious. My eyes wander around the sunlit bedroom. An idea clicks inside my head as I make my way over to the bathroom. My attention is pulled to a small white bath towel laying on the counter. I take the cloth, rolling it into a cylinder, then returning to my place beside the injection machine. With ease, I stick the rolled-up towel into the slot. The scanner assesses the towel, and I think for a moment that this won't work. Satisfyingly, the green smiley face appears on the screen. "Thank you for your cooperation." The machine finishes before condensing into the wall. My mouth is slightly open. Unbelievably, it worked! Without hesitation, I unravel the white cloth to see a blue stain in the center. So, this stuff really is serum... but from where?

We all file into our charting offices. Aris didn't really say much to me this morning. I wanted to tell him about what I did with the towel, but I guess he'll hear about it when I tell the others tonight. I take a seat in my once comfortable chair signing into the computer on the desk. I know what we're here for. The equipment and then were out. But my mind continues to ask one singular question... how are they getting the serum? Suddenly, there's a knock at my door. I look up to see the same face that has greeted me every morning so far. "Good morning Ms. Olivia." Dr. Rowan Young smiles as he leans against the wooden door. "Rowan, hey! What are you doing here?" I say leaning back in my chair. He walks in a bit further but restrains from joining me behind the desk. "Just visiting." His smile is genuine. He's wearing a navy-blue t-shirt and jeans. He explained to me how they have him change when he gets to work. I guess it's a sanitary thing. "I have a proposition for you." I feel a sense of curiosity overwhelm me. "And what might that be?" I ask biting the end of a pencil. He grabs the chair he uses when he helps me chart and swivels it backwards. "I talked to some of my directors, collogues, whatever you want to call them." He sits down in the backwards chair continuing his 'proposition'. "They agreed, if you're up to it, to you shadowing me for the day in the ICU! They said as long as you still get your charting done, you can shadow me whenever for more experience. They also mentioned that they love the enthusiasm!" The shock hits me fast, and I think he notices it too. "It's too much? I'm sorry! You don't have to accept if you're not ready!" Worry is all over his expression. My eyes widen, "No, no! Thank you so much for the offer. I just don't know how I'm going to shadow you and get my charting done." Rowan's grip tightens on the chair back. "I can stay afterwards and help you! I've been doing that the past few days anyways. This way you can get more hospital experience. Besides, I have to stay extra late tonight. They scheduled an emergency procedure tonight that'll take a while." I feel sudden guilt pass over me. He's genuinely interested in my life, yet he has no idea what he's getting into. But the ICU... the equipment. "Rowan, I..." Before I can go any further, he gets up to leave. "It's ok! Really! I'll see ya later." The smile is different. Disappointment lingers in his expression. As he walks out, I shout, "Rowan wait." His head pops back around the corner. "You didn't let me finish." His normal smile slowly expands on his face. "I was going to say... I would love to shadow you for the day."
