February 1-28: The Open Novella Contest begins with prompts being revealed in a separate chapter of this book. It's time to scrounge through them to pick one and begin writing. This is also the beginning of the Round One (2000 words) milestone of the contest. Start writing and reach your first 2000 word count goal. Submit your entries before the deadline which is February 28.

February 28 - March 21: Our judges begin judging the Round One (2000 words) milestone entries. Participants can start working towards Round Two (8000 words) goal.

March 21-23: Round One (2000 words) milestone qualifiers are announced. Qualifying participants can start polishing their entries for Round Two (8000 words) submissions.

If you did not make it through the first round of judging, you are encouraged to keep writing and to hit the next milestone and earn your milestone sticker!

February 28 - April 4: The beginning of Round Two (8000 words) milestone. If you have qualified for Round One, it's time to submit your entries for the next round with the deadline being April 4.
