It was late into the next evening, and Eden was already asleep upstairs. I shut the door to our room quietly, as not to wake her.

I decided it was time for a run. Tatia hadn't been let out in nearly five days, and she was growing restless. I found myself thinking about the ball more and more lately. I needed alone time to think things over. Maybe it was all of Tatia's unending lectures. My wolf chuckled smugly.

I walked downstairs, finding a tired Farley in the kitchen washing dishes.

"Where are you going?" She asked me.

"I need to run." I answered, making my way towards the door.

"Wait Bri, let me come with you." said Farley, drying off her hands. I turned around to face her.

"No I need to be alone..I need to think and-" She cut me off.

"It's fine. I understand.. Just don't stay gone to long." She slapped the dishrag over her shoulder.

"Okay mom." I chuckled, heading out the door.

Finally..
My wolf yipped in delight.

I stepped out into the chilly night air.
The waning moon was concealed by charred clouds, making everything feel darker out. Trudging through the snow, I left a trail of messy footprints behind me.

Let me out..I need out.

"Ok geez hold on."

My wolf didn't wait for me to surrender control to her, claiming my human body in a matter of seconds.

My short limbs lengthened into her long ones, my tanned skin becoming golden fur. My wolf let out a long howl, her bones snapping firmly into place.

She dug her claws deep into the snow, lunging forward. We ran towards the dense forest, not looking back.

We ran as one. Leaping over logs, bounding over creeks, relying only on our primal instincts. It was amazing, I felt my pent up tension releasing.

"Having fun?" Tatia chuckled.

Maybe a little.. I admitted.

Tatia ran on, stopping only when we reached the familiar hill where I had first shifted.

"Remember this place?" She asked.

Of course..it's where I first met my wolf..how could I forget?

Werewolves shifted the moment they turned seventeen. I still remember that moment vaguely, even though it was two years ago.
It hurt like hell when my bones broke into their new places, but I recovered quickly with the new blood in my system.

Tatia was my closest friend. I shared everything with her, she was always there for me at my darkest moments. The moon goddess paired us together for a reason. Despite everything we had been through together, she kept me strong, always pushing forward.

As much as I despised my wolf's bossiness or persistence, she was always right.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked, breaking the silence.

Just thinking about what's to come..

"Meeting mate you mean?"

I inwardly rolled my eyes. All Tatia ever thought about was mate this and mate that. Wolves..

Not every little thing that occupies my mind has to do with finding our mate. I said annoyed.
