Sleeping was pointless. I didn't know how to feel anymore. I laid awake in my cloud bed trying in vain to mentally sort all this out. What puzzled me most was what I was even doing here in the first place.

"I know you probably have a lot of questions. Unfortunately I won't be able to answer any at this time"  I was beginning to question the mental sanity of my mate.

It wasn't typical for mates to stay together after a rejection. After all, they were rejected for a reason. That thought stung me. Why had I been rejected? Was something wrong with me?

My wolf begged to differ.

I tossed and turned, struggling to find a comfortable position. The icy wind was howling outside, striking the windows like some awakened beast. My teeth chattered, causing my whole body to shiver.

I think mate has his reasons for keeping us here, and we shouldn't question it.. Tatia voiced her opinion.
After all if he truly thought something was wrong with us, he wouldn't care so much about our protection.

Protection? Was that what Vlad was doing? Protecting us? What on earth from? I couldn't think of anything that I would need protection from.

I didn't know what I had expected, but that did seem like a pretty good explanation for his actions. At that my cheeks warmed a little. Maybe there was still some hope yet. Although there was always still a possibility that Vlad was keeping us around for his own selfish desires.

I woke up with yet another pounding headache.
I must've been really tired because I had no recollection of falling asleep.

"Vlad must've used a whole baseball bat to knock me out with." I groaned, rubbing the still sore spot on my head.

Be lucky it wasn't worse..

She had a point.

I sat up in my bed. Out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of bright pink. Shocked, I realized that there were in fact more new packages at the foot of my bed. I rubbed my eyes again to make sure I wasn't imagining things. They were real.

"But how-"

How had he gotten in here without me or Tatia smelling him. And what exactly did he do while we slept? There was another note taped to one of the bags. It was in that same small printed writing.

"I will be gone for a few days. I have some things to take care of, and am trusting you to be on your best behavior. I left your door unlocked and some food in the kitchen. You will not under any circumstances leave this house. I hope I make myself very clear.
These things should last you until I get back.
                                                                    -V      "

"What?"

Did I read that right? Why would mate bring me here only to leave.. and a few days at that. What was I supposed to do while he was gone? I couldn't go outside apparently, which was insane. That didn't leave me with much else to do. I suppose I could explore the house at least, and go find something to eat. My stomach growled loudly in agreement.

Aren't you gonna open your stuff? My wolf asked.

"Later." I answered, shuffling out of bed.

The bite of the cold nipped at my arms and toes. I grabbed the giant blanket off my bed and wrapped it around myself. Tiptoeing towards the door, I sniffed the air checking for any familiar scents. Nothing. No strong odors of anyone being in the house, although I could still pick up the faint scent of my mate. Probably from when he was in here earlier.
