Judging

Judges will be judging the following for every book.

Grammar:_/10
- Does every sentence flow smoothly?
- Are there any grammar mistakes?
- Is there correct punctuation?
- Can you understand what the author is trying to say?

Characters:_/10
- Do the characters seem realistic personality wise?
- Can you relate to them?
- Do the characters interact realistically with one another?
- Do they carry out the plot well?
- Are they developing like they should?
- Do they fit in?

Pacing:_/15
- Is the story moving too fast or slow?
- Do all events happen chronologically?
- Does the main protagonist develop or change to quickly or slowly?
- Or is it an all around normal paced book?

Content:_/20
- Does the story excite you?
- Are there any plot holes that leave you with questions?
- As you read, does the content want to make you read on?
- Does the story make sense?
- Do you see yourself finishing the book?

Description:_/5
- Does the description of the book draw you in?
- Does it match the title?
- Does it make you want to read the story?

Title:_/5
- Does the title draw you in?
- Is it unique or a generic (stereotypical) title?
- Does the title match the cover?
- Does it fit once you start reading?

Cover:_/5
- Does the cover catch your eye?
- Does it make you want to read the book?
- Is it relative to the title?
- Does it connect to the story once you start reading?

Emotions:_/10
- Does the story utilize the correct usage of pathos?
- Were you emotionally connected to the book?
- Did it pull at your heartstrings?
- Were you satisfied with the ending?

Dialogue:_/10
- Is the dialogue it's own separate paragraph or is it mixed in within the paragraphs of the story?
- Are the quotations marks correctly placed?
- Does the speech make sense?
- Are they interesting and realistic?

First Impressions:_/10
- Based on the first chapter, were you hooked?
- Did you want to read on?
- Does the writing style make sense?
- Did you like how the plot was introduced?

Total: 100
Review: You will need to write a review for the book. At least 1-2 sentences about what was good. At least 1-2 sentences about what the author needs to work on. Please also include a sentence about if you would recommend this book to anyone else or not.

I am introducing a new way to judge! When judging time comes around, I will be posting the assignments for everyone to see. Participants will need to follow their judge per the rules so please do so! I have created online surveys for you to complete your judging. Hopefully it will be much easier than sending them through PM. When it's time to judge, I will send the proper survey link to you over PM so you can start judging. You are able to send in multiple surveys so you only need the link once unless you need it again haha. I think this will be a good thing for my records and also for the judges as you won't forget what goes into the completed form.
