10:00 A.M.

Eda looked up from her chair, staring into the mirror in front of her. Her beautiful hair was twisted in a bun at the base of her neck. She wore a pale white dress with lace adorned all over and wrapped over her arms. A simple diamond chain sat on her neck, and matching pearls hung from her ears. Eda looked beautiful from the outside. Of course, no one knew the real inner turmoil she faced.

Today was her wedding day, the supposed happiest day of her life. Except she was getting married to the wrong person for the wrong reason. It was March 20.

Eda was getting married to Deniz.

There was nothing wrong with him. Deniz was the most logical person for her to marry her predictable option. But he was not the one she loved. Eda didn't know when the game went so far. One day they were discussing wedding cards in front of Serkan, and the next, everything happened like a blur. Suddenly it was her wedding day, and she had become convinced to marry Deniz because he had been there for her.

The problem was the entire thing was suffocating her. Eda wanted to run away from this wedding, from everyone she knew, from Deniz. She wanted to get married to Serkan, but clearly, he no longer cared enough to remember. And Eda wanted to stop choosing everyone over herself for once.

So she did.

Something inside of her snapped the moment she heard a knock on the door and a call to come out in 10 minutes. And one minute, she was staring into the mirror; the next, she had taken a pair of scissors to cut away the excess train of her dress, ripped off her veil, and stuffed everything in the garbage can. She slipped off the stilettos, replacing them with sneakers. Grabbing a pen and some paper, she quickly scribbled a goodbye note, hasty and messy but to the point of apologizing and wishing everyone around her well.

Eda grabbed her phone and purse. She looked around one last time and ran to the bathroom of her suite. Knowing she couldn't escape the primary way, Eda climbed out the bathroom window and jumped down. As she was about to run, a hand grabbed her arm, pulling her into the bushes. Eda tried to scream, but her mouth was suddenly covered with a palm. Ready to kill the person who had ruined her plan, Eda turned around with fury, only to find herself staring into the eyes of the man she had never expected to meet again.

Serkan.

Looking around one last time, Serkan slowly removed his palm off a stunned Eda. Silently grabbing her hand, he pulled her along with him, and suddenly they were both walking away towards his black BMW. Before Eda could even realize it, she was sitting in his car, gaping at the man next to her.

"How...What... Serkan napiyosun burda?"

Glancing at a flustered and confused Eda, Serkan couldn't help but let out a soft smile. Two days before, he had broken everything off with Selin, who had finally accepted the reality and boarded a plane to move back to Denmark. Serkan had understood then, when he felt relief over her leaving, that he had never loved her; even with his foggy brain, the only woman who he could ever think about was Eda. Although he struggled with his mind as memories of him and Eda had slowly started flooding in, he knew enough to remember her and become sure of one thing; he loved Eda and had always been in love with her, mind, body, soul.

The next day, he had planned to go to her house and tell her everything, only to find the door locked. Deciding to be impulsive for once, Serkan had made the plan to go and stop her wedding. To his luck, he had found her before. And now, with her sitting next to him, nothing else mattered.

"There is a lot that we need to talk about Eda Yildiz. But before anything else, I want to apologize to you. Forgive me Eda. For everything. For being an asshole to you. For being with someone else instead of trying to understand you. For hurting you. For not fighting to remember you. For leaving in the first place. Please forgive me. There is no human way possible for me to ever make it up to you but please let me try. Let me be a man worthy of your love. I promise that no matter what I will be with you. Please give me one more chance."

When Serkan finished, he found Eda with silent tears streaming down her cheeks, which he couldn't help but lean forward to wipe away softly. She looked at him with a wobbly smile and replied, "I was wondering when you would come back to me Serkan Bolat. Never let me go again. We can do all the talking later Serkan, but for now take me away from here please. Let us finally be together, with no one and nothing in the way and learn to love each other."

And the two estranged lovers finally found peace, clutching at each other and their hands roaming one another. They kissed hurriedly first and then leisurely and passionately as if they had all the time in the world in front of the venue, ignorant of the chaos happening in their absence. There were many words yet to be spoken, but for now, it was enough knowing that no matter what, they would be together, as one. Dropping one more kiss to Eda's forehead, Serkan finally turned, holding Eda's hand in one hand and the other on the steering wheel, to speed away towards the airport. And that was the last they were seen, seconds before the wedding party rushed to catch the bride leaving with another lover.

One Week Later

With their hands clasped tightly together and their faces glowing with happiness, Serkan and Eda Bolat, the newly married lovebirds who had secretly eloped in Paris, were captured by the paparazzi, kissing under the Eiffel Tower, their new rings gleaming in the sun. The two had stepped out of the registrar's office a couple of minutes ago where their secret wedding took place and come out with their hands clasped tightly and faces shining with happiness. It had been the biggest shock story for the world and everyone back home who watched in awe and finally saw the two missing lovers for the first time since their escape a week ago.

And for Eda and Serkan, it was better than any wedding they could have ever imagined. The perfect way it should have been a long time ago. Just the two of them, now together for life, with no intention of ever letting go.
