Timeskip after battle- some years later

Rain slowly pitter-pattered against her thick leather cloak as she trekked through the sloppy reddish mud. Behind her, about ten others were stomping along. Every single person either wore a scowl or frown. They had been traveling for weeks now and still didn't seem to know where they were going. The young woman beside her suddenly slipped and grunted in pain as her knee hit the ground.

"Are you ok, Kit?" The leader of the group asked.

"Yeah, sick of all this mud! Are we gonna rest soon?" Kit asked, slightly shaky.

"Very soon. There's a small village not far from here." The leader answered. Soon enough and not to soon did the small band reach the settlement. As they stepped up to the local inn and opened the door; they stopped! Dead in their tracks; they glanced around and everything in the inn stopped as well. It was an awkward silence and another woman in the group quietly hissed at their leader:

"Therina, you didn't say they were dwarves! "

Therina just lightly smirked and mentally shivered a little. As this was going on, a young looking dwarf with long black hair and blue eyes stepped towards them slowly. Therina noticed him and walked forward a bit quicker, but still cautiously.

"Good evening, what brings you here?" The dwarf greeted.

"Good evening." She returned, but didn't answer his question right away, as she began to study the room and who was in it. There were many dwarves, but most had gone back to their business already. The room itself was made of sturdy brown timbers, stacked on top of the other with light green moss stuffed neatly in the cracks. The fireplace was bigger than normal but, the mantle low enough to compensate dwarf height. There was a tall bar, and an open space with tables, chairs, and couches which were closer to the fire. Two, definitely younger dwarves sat on the couch closest to the warm fireplace, smoking on pipes. One had greenish blue-grey eyes while the other had dark brown. When their eyes met Therina's, they both smiled warmly, and she had no choice but to return it.

Finally bringing her attention back to the dwarf in front of her; she smiled but it didn't last long before she replied:

"We're simple travelers looking for hot food to eat and warm beds to rest. "

The dwarrow nodded in understanding and turned to the dwarven woman behind the bar. He spoke in language that Therina had heard before, but she couldn't remember what it was called...it sounded so familiar to her. Turning to the company behind her, she decided to speak in their native tongue;

"Go eat and rest. We'll stay here tonight."
They nodded, and went to eat. But Kit paused, and gestured to the dwarf who looked at Therina suspiciously, or maybe just curious...or suprised. Either way, the dwarf trusted her about as much as she trusted them, but that was no reason to be rude. She glanced back toward the two younger dwarves and found them watching her with pure curiosity. Smirking at them, she quietly walked over to the table at which her company was seated. This could be interesting; she thought to herself.

As everyone but Therina was situated, the dwarrowdam from the bar came over, and asked what they wanted to drink. Coffee was the word that swept silently across the wooden table. The woman raised her eyebrows in amusement, but nevertheless went to get their order.
Yep..this was definitely going to be interesting......

What's up everyone! Happy late Valentine's Day! 💕🌹This chapter is dedicated to my aunt (who doesn't have a Wattpad account) but helped me considerably with editing. Also this is the original Knights of Erebor chapter; meaning the first one I wrote before it became a fanfic. So pretty exciting!🎉 Anyways, I would love to hear what you think of the story so far, but no pressure:)) Well....bye for now!👋😉
