Senior prank night.

It's kind of a thing in Mystic Falls, where the seniors go around the campus and place pranks everywhere. No one is safe.

I put my earrings in, seeing Elena standing in the doorway from my mirror.

"You ready?"

I nod, smiling. "Let's go pull some pranks."

--

The halls were eerily silent, the sounds of doors shutting and our footsteps echoing in the dim lights seeming like something out of a movie.

"I'm gonna look for Bonnie and Care, okay?" Elena says, holding a balloon that was filled with glue. I nod and Elena walks off down the hall. I decide to put my prank in my junior year geography teacher's room. It was a beach ball globe that was filled up with soda and all I had left to do was add the Mentos.

More familiar faces were appearing, going in and out of classrooms with sneaky grins on their faces.

And then I got the feeling that something terrible was happening. I pulled my phone out, dialing Elena's number. No one picked up, so I decided to look.

My curiosity pulled me into the aquatics room, which is when I saw Bonnie giving Matt CPR.

"Matt!" I screamed, running over to my two friends.

"Come on, Matt," Bonnie pleaded. Matt started to cough, water coming out of his mouth.

"Vicki told me why the hybrids aren't working,"

"You saw Vic-"

"It's because Elena isn't dead, and either is Tatiana."

Bonnie and I both looked at each other.

"And Klaus is here."

We took off running, Bonnie going one direction while I went the other.

"Caroline!"

I stopped when I saw a blonde girl I didn't recognize across from Caroline.

"You. I know you!" She exclaimed, standing up.

"I don't know you?" I reply.

"Chicago 1922, you, me, my brother, Stefan..."

"That must've been Natalie," I say to myself more than to the girl.

"Oh please don't tell me you're a doppelgänger too,"

"I.."

A sudden smile came onto her face. "You're a doppelgänger too."

I turned around and took off running, knowing very well that this girl was probably a vampire and could run 100 times faster than I can. I ran through doors that led to the gym, slamming them behind me to stall time.

"Tatiana, don't.move." I heard Stefan say, seeing a clock counting down on the scoreboard.

"Stefan, you're stronger than this!" Elena was attempting to convince him.

"When that clock hits 0, Elena, run, fast. And far."

"Go!" Stefan growled, Elena and I both taking off.

"What's happening?!" I ask Elena as we slam door, Stefan purposely ramming into lockers so he doesn't ram his teeth into us.

"Klaus compelled him to feed on me and turn his humanity off,"

I felt almost.. sad that Stefan's humanity was gone. What would he be like without it? I didn't want to turn around to find out.

"Doppelgängers."

Klaus appeared in front of us.

"It seems that we don't in fact need you dead.. yet,"

I didn't speak, my heart thumping wildly in my chest.

"But we do need your blood, or Tyler Lockwood will be dead."

"H-how much?" Elena asks.

"Only a small tube... often."

"From both of us?"

"Well, if one of you gets sick or someone's vampire lover turns them, it's nice to have backup."

"Where's Tyler?"

Is she really doing this?

"This way."

From what I've seen lately, Elena doesn't even know which vampire is her lover. I've caught her a couple times flirting with Damon while Stefan was gone, and every time it happened people looked to me as if I was supposed to show a reaction. I usually just roll my eyes for their entertainment.

I reluctantly follow Klaus and Elena to wherever Tyler was, watching Elena give him her blood to help him survive.

When did it all get so messed up?

I walked out of the gym, hearing the sound of my own footsteps echo throughout the hallway.

"Tatiana, was it?"

I turn around and look at the blonde. Klaus's sister.

"Yeah," I reply, crossing my arms over my chest. In a flash, she was directly in front of me and a sharp pain went through my stomach.

"Klaus may want you alive but I sure as hell don't."

I collapsed to my knees, the girl disappearing as my eyelids got heavy. Is this what death feels like?

"Tatiana!" I hear Damon right before my eyes close.

"Damon," I say weakly, feeling yet another sharp pain as whatever that bitch stabbed me with was ripped out of me.

"You aren't going to like this,"

I feel something against my lips and the metallic taste of blood on my tongue before all of my senses blacked out.
