Missing Scene (Obitine)

In a short missing scene between the killing of Merrik and when the Coronet lands, Obi-Wan and Anakin actually talk and communicate with each other for once in their lives.

Once they had returned to their room Anakin turned to Obi-Wan, "You should go to her..."

"I can't."

Anakin sighs, why can't they just suck it up already? "The order has no rules about sex, does she have a code of ethics that forbids it?

"No."

He resists the urge to roll his eyes "Then go, just be with her Obi-Wan."

"I can't." He repeats what he said earlier, making Anakin shake his head. Obi-Wan sits down on the edge of the bed heavily and stares at the ground.

"Is it because you're scared?" Anakin isn't going to give up that easily, "Are you afraid that if you go to her right now you might end up committed to her? Is it so bad that you might be happy for once?"

"You think the reason I haven't left the order for her is because of me? Of course, you do, it fits who you think I am perfectly."

Anakin was surprised, he hasn't expected Obi-Wan to lash out like that. "I-"

"Satine never asked Anakin! The day I left Mandalore with my Master I was ready to drop everything for Satine, to stay, to become her consort and husband... But when the time finally came, she didn't ask, she didn't give the word even though I all but begged her to let me stay. And she still hasn't asked me, but she knows that even to this very day I still love her so so much. She almost asked me when you were still a young boy, but then she saw you and she couldn't take me away from you. She also knows that I cannot leave until after the war, that I will not leave for her until it's all over."

"Why won't you?"

"I am a general Anakin; I wish to see my men and the republic at peace before I leave..."

It's Anakin's turn to look down now, "I just never imagined you to be someone who would leave the Jedi for that..."

"Leaving the Jedi order is not incomprehensible to me Anakin. I left when I was fourteen and I almost left when you considered leaving. I would have gone with you, kept teaching you, I would have kept you safe. However, when you dropped that subject before I could tell you that and it never came up again."

Anakin is stunned, What?

Obi-Wan isn't finished though, "When Satine gives the word, I will leave in a heartbeat, so maybe you should prepare for that day to come..."

"I will, but Padme told me no too at first, a lot, only I didn't give up, I kept asking until she said yes."

Obi-Wan sighed and looked sideways at him, "I will not pressure her, I want to be chosen by her. She has so many other options that are not me and I come with a lot of... baggage, I need her to choose me over everyone else, to tell me that she wants me. And maybe she doesn't, and that's fine- "

"-She would be a fool to walk away from you..."

"I do not know everything about the woman I love, and I know I never will, but I do know one thing... She is no fool."
