"As soon as I met her I fell in love with her. She's amazing. We're both from New England and I just feel so at home with her"- Patrick Dempsey

He woke up to the sound of his alarm. Groaning, he reached over, slapping the buttons on the top trying to turn it off. He looked over at his beautiful wife, they had both been exhausted recently so he wasn't surprised to see her still sleeping peacefully. They had a two-year-old daughter, Talula, who constantly kept them on their toes. His toddler plus his busy work schedule meant that he and Jill didn't get much time alone together. Of course, she understood, she knew what she was getting into when she married an actor. They had met at a hairdresser, she was cutting his hair and he had fallen instantly in love with her and the rest is history. He looked at the time, it was 6:30 am, it was a miracle that Tee wasn't up yet. He had a couple of hours until he had to leave for his interview, which meant that he had more than enough time to get ready. The interview was for the part of Derek Shepherd, a neurosurgeon in a new medical drama called 'Complications', it was the final screen test for the role and he'd be reading with his possible future co-star. When he got called back from the last interview he was extremely surprised, it was his first time meeting the creator of the show, Shonda Rhimes, she stared at him the whole time. He was adamant that she hated him, she didn't say a word to him and only looked at him with an expressionless look on her face.

He pulled up to the studio in his Porsche, he loved his cars and was passionate about racing, if he wasn't acting then he was usually on the racetrack. The feeling of going so quickly, the wind in his hair was one he couldn't get from doing anything else. When he walked into the waiting room he was greeted by a room full of men, he looked around and instantly knew that he was the most attractive man there, as an actor you have to be sure of yourself. The door opened and a tall black man stepped out, smiling arrogantly at him and the rest of the men there as he walked passed, he took an instant disliking to him. "Patrick Dempsey", a woman called out, he got up at the sound of his name and walked into the room, closing the door behind him. When he turned around he stood dumbstruck, in front of him was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She had long golden blonde hair with petite features but what jumped out at him were her eyes, at first glance you would think that they were green but they seemed to change between different shades of blue or green, like they were neither green nor blue but a different colour entirely. "It's nice to see you again Patrick, you know Peter and Betsy, this is Ellen Pompeo, she is playing Meredith Grey and will be reading with you today" Shonda said bringing him back to reality. He walked over to the table and Ellen stood up to shake his hand. The moment his hand touched hers he felt a burst of fireworks in his fingertips, the electric shock traveling up his arm. "It's nice to meet you" she said smiling, a smile that made her eyes crinkle at the sides, as beautiful as that smile was it wasn't the thing that had just caught him off guard. She had a Boston accent, he was from Maine and hadn't heard a New London accent for such a long time, the sound of hers once again left him in a state of stupor, holding her hand for far too long than what would be deemed necessary. "It's nice to meet you too, Boston, right?" he asked finally letting go of her hand, "Yeah, what about you?" she replied, "Maine". Shonda looked between the two of them before starting to explain the scene they were about to read through. He tried his best to pay attention but was completely distracted by the woman sitting opposite him, besides he had already read the script, how hard could it be? They stood up with her facing in the opposite direction, it was the first time he had gotten a proper look at her body, she was wearing a white shirt and a pair of jeans, neither of which were very tight fitting but he could see her curves underneath. She was tiny, he felt a primitive urge to protect her even though he had only just met her, although for some reason it felt like he had known her forever. "Dr Shepherd" she said, she was good at hiding her accent, "Dr Shepherd? This morning it was Derek, now it's Dr Shepherd?" he said watching her turn around. He caught her eye, keeping the eye contact as she said "Dr Shepherd, we should pretend that it never happened", "What never happened? You sleeping with me last night, or you throwing me out this morning? Because both are fond memories I'd like to hold onto" he said smirking at her. "No there will be no memories, I'm not the girl at the bar anymore and you're not the guy. This can't exist, you get that right?" she said, the serious look on her face only made him smirk even more. He had to admit that he was impressed, not many women could keep the eye contact, let alone resist the smirk. "You took advantage of me and now you want to forget about it" he said with a playful look on his face, "I did not take advantage-", "I was drunk vulnerable and good-looking and you took advantage" he said cutting her off. He could see her fighting a smile, she was getting more into the scene, the energy between them building. "Ok, I was the one that was drunk and you are not that good-looking" she said with a
cheeky grin, "Maybe not today but last night, last night I was very good-looking. I had my red shirt on, my good-looking shirt and you took advantage" he said trying to keep a serious face. "I did not take advan-", "Well take advantage again, say Friday night?" he said moving closer to her. He was surprised at how well this was going, he had never had this much chemistry with another actor right from the start. They seemed to bounce off each other and the flirting felt almost too natural. He looked down at her, her lips begging for him to kiss them. What was that? He had a wife, he was happily married, he hadn't thought about another woman like that since before he met Jill. "No, you're an attending and I'm your intern. Stop looking at me like that" she said with her eyebrows furrowed, "Like what?" he replied, "Like you've seen me naked" she responded, the serious look didn't leave her face as he smirked again. "Dr Shepherd, this is inappropriate, has that ever occurred to you?" she said before tearing her eyes away from his to look at Shonda. He looked over at them, Shonda, Peter and Betsy were smiling at them, it seemed as though it went just as well as he thought it had. "That was great guys" Peter said approvingly, "I had a great partner" he said nodding his head at Ellen. She smiled at him and shook her head, "Well thank you for coming in Patrick, we will be in touch shortly" Shonda said to him. He smiled at them all before walking towards the door, he stopped at the door, taking one last look at Ellen before closing it behind him.

He sat in his car, taking a few minutes to digest what had just happened. He didn't want to forget her face, if he didn't get the role he didn't want that to be the last time he saw her. He knew that it was wrong to want her but there was something about her, he had never felt like this before. He thought that what he had with Jill was love at first sight but now he wasn't so sure, the first time he saw Ellen was different, he felt as though there was a sort of magnetic pull between the two of them. He drove home a little quicker than what was legal, feeling guilty about the traitorous thoughts running through his mind.

"Daddy", Talula ran up to him on her little legs as he walked through the door. "Hello princess" he said swooping her up into his arms, she was the best thing he had ever done. She was the spitting image of her mother, blonde hair and big blue eyes, she was his whole world. "How did it go?" Jill asked walking up to him from the kitchen, "I think it went pretty well, they said that they will call me in a couple of days to let me know if I got the part" he replied.
