That's what every young couple is told. Young love; inconstant as the moon with its ever-changing phases, yet as mesmerizing as its luminescent glow. Addictive like the drug that brings you a fleeting high for the everlasting lows. Crazy, unpredictable, tumultuous, no one ever calls it true. Genuine. Authentic. Real.
'Don't fall in love too quick,' they always warn, 'love in moderation'. With a love like theirs, there's too much smoke that engulfs the lovers, blinding their eyes with intense amounts of smoke and flooding their lungs with the strangling sensation. One look can easily be the spark needed to set off the two gasoline-soaked lovers, setting them off in flames as they burn all the more passionately the closer they are together.
There's always that one person who sets off the spark, that one person you look to when someone tells a joke to see if they're laughing, the one person who crosses your mind when you read something. Loneliness for an extended period of time can almost make it unsettling to suddenly have company but once you have a love like theirs, you can never quite go back. To find or seek another would be condemning oneself to a lifetime of darkness and send one down the abyss of denial.
There are many people who claim they'd walk through fire for you, traverse the ends of the earth for you, but there's only that one person who would ever do all of that with you.
