As soon as the man starts to put away his knife, Seraphina activates her ability. She rams the man into John's barrier, and smashes his head against it while knocking away the knife. She kicks off of the man towards John. He catches her, and she deactivates her ability, panting.
'She's still spent,' John thought. Still holding the barrier, John puts Seraphina down. Just then, the van backs up, and rams right into John's barrier, instantly shattering it. John reels back, spitting out blood as he does. The intruder gets in the van, and the van starts to drive off. Arlo jumps out of the window and activates a barrier in front of the van. The van cracks it, but doesn't completely break it. John gets up, wiping the blood off of his mouth, and activates a second barrier behind Arlo's. The van backs up again, and with one final push, breaks through Arlo's barrier and easily shatters the barrier of an already weakened John. The van drives off, and both Arlo and John start to breathe heavily, frustrated with the stalemate.
-"We should've had them!" John yells in frustration, while Arlo stays silent.
-"Sera!" Elaine exclaims, hugging Seraphina tight as she rushes to her. 'Since when are they good friends?' Arlo asks himself. Arlo gets up, keeping an eye out for if they come back.
-"Arlo, now do you believe us about the power dampener?" John questions the blonde.
-"Yes. That van just shattered through our barriers, and we're both God-tiers. It doesn't make any sense." Elaine breaks from her hug with Seraphina.
-"Guys, we should probably get inside." Elaine sensibly remarks.
-"I agree," John answers, "we don't know if they will come back, let alone when."
-"Seraphina, how is your wound?" Arlo asks empathetically.
-"Yes, how is it? I healed you as best as I could." Elaine adds on. Seraphina weakly smiles, and answers.
-"You did great, Elaine. Thank you. Without you and John, who knows what kind of trouble I could be in."
-"Sera, let's head inside. I'll help you walk, you lost a lot of blood, so you're bound to be disoriented. I don't know how you're even conscious right now." John says, expressing his concern.
-"I can walk, John." She states defiantly... before immediately wobbling while walking back towards the apartment.
-"Sure doesn't seem like it." Arlo comments.
-"Just let me help, Sera." John basically commands Seraphina. Seraphina reluctantly obliges, putting her arm around John for balance.
Once entering the apartment again, they gather around and at the couch, Sera sitting down on the couch, Elaine leaning against the back, John in front of it, and Arlo just away from the couch all together. John turns to the group.
-"What are the chances Blyke and Remi are awake right now?" He asks.
-"You're not seriously thinking of calling them to come over at..." he glances at his watch, "12:15 AM, are you?"
-"What happens if more come after Sera? What then? We're basically all too tired to fight again, and we would be able to tell the two everything! We're killing two birds with one stone!"
-"What you're saying is still completely unreasonable!" Arlo argues.
-"There's no harm in trying!" John retorts.
-"They are probably sleeping!"
-"Since when do you care about a person's personal life?" John closes with. Arlo just scoffs, muttering about how stupid John is. 'Now he's just making up excuses.' John thinks to himself.
