Aiden POV
I woke up by hitting my head on something. Light was pouring into the van, and it looked as though Rodrick and Andy were both already awake. I looked at what was around me, concluding that I must've hit my head on the side of the van while moving around. I wasn't sure of what time it was, but by the looks of it, it was still relatively early.

"You're awake!" I looked up at Andy smiling at me, his legs swung over the arms of the front seat. Rodrick was driving, but I saw him give me a small smile through the rear view mirror.

"What time is it," I asked groggily, rubbing my eyes.

"Almost nine. You slept in pretty late," Rodrick said with a laugh. Pretty late????? It's too fucking early for this.

"Where are we headed?"

"Well, Rodrick said he didn't get much sleep last night so we're trying to find a place to get coffee and maybe some breakfast," Andy explained.

"Oh rad." I was a bit out of it, feeling a bit spacey. This tends to happen quite a lot, usually after a long day of "borrowing." I associated a lot of those kinds of experiences with my best friends, especially Andy. We've lost some partners along the way, but I try not to think about that. Andy knows what's best for me, and those people definitely were not helping our success.

I snapped out of my thoughts when I saw a sign for a cafe on the side of the road.

"Dudes! There's a cafe coming up on the right. See?" I pointed to the area of the sign, Andy watching me intently.

"Oh great, Rodrick just turn up there, yeah?" Rodrick nodded moving lanes to get closer to the exit. I ran my fingers thorough my hair a few times, trying to fix it up a bit before I had to leave the van. I put on my shoes, tying the laces tightly. I noticed a small hole starting on my shoes, cursing slightly under my breath.

"Hey Scabs?" Andy turned to me. "Did we get any duct tape yesterday?" He nodded, pointing at his bag. "Thank you!"

I grabbed the bag, digging around in it until I found the tape. I wrapped it around my shoe a few times, covering the hole.

"Scabs? What the hell does that mean," Rodrick asked with a laugh.

"It's a nickname," Andy said simply. "I'm Scabs, and they're Grubs. Like a plant larva." I laughed slightly at the sentence, thinking about how I've been going by something with that definition.

"Nice, I guess," Rodrick said, still laughing. He pulled into the parking lot of the cafe, finding a space to go into. He stopped the car, unlocking the doors. I looked up, taking in the appearance of the small shop. It was quite cute, having a color scheme of green and blue. There were large windows in the front, and there weren't too many people inside. As I was about to open the door, Andy spoke up.

"Oh uh, Rodrick? Do you think you could go in? Without us?" I was a bit confused, but then I saw the cop car a few spaces away from us.

"Oh yeah, um, that would be very much appreciated." Rodrick stayed in his seat, unsure of what was going on.

"Can't at least one of you come in with me? What about you, Aiden?" I wasn't sure how to explain why I couldn't go in. My wording sucks ass, and I tend to just expose the whole thing.

"I, uh, I can't. My shoe isn't working."

"But you just fixed it?"

"Rodrick, please just go in. G and I know some people in there and we can't risk it."

"The fuck do you mean you know some people?" Rodrick seemed to be getting a little panicked, but what happened next made our whole situation worse. I looked back out the window of the van, immediately regretting my decision. Austen and I made eye contact, and it was made obvious that she knew who I was.

"Rodrick leave right the fuck now or we're gonna get fucked and not in a good way."
