Matthew 5:7
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

This is one of the most simple rules in the Bible: you show mercy to others and you get mercy in return.
Forgiveness is a slow process and it isn't easy to let go, but once you do, you'll realise it's worth it.
Maybe that's why God doesn't want us to hold grudges against others.
I'm always thankful for God's ever flowing mercy because sometimes you may not even be aware of it, but we sin against him all the time.
Maybe it was that cuss word you said out of anger and brushed it off immediately.
Maybe it was that disrespectful remark you made against your parents.
The fact is we might not pay attention to it, but we sin almost every day.
Thankfully, God is always ready to forgive us even though we might not deserve it.

If God forgave you, why wouldn't you forgive someone else?

More importantly, do you expect God to forgive you when you refused to forgive someone else?
The Bible says, forgive others, then God forgives you.

It's a simple rule.
