Tommy's phone lights up with a notification. It's his calendar app, reminding him of the date. The grey text reads:

BASTARDS JAIL COURT DATE
In 24hTomorrow. Tommy sighs.
---
Today is the day. They've been waiting for this day for almost a month. Dark blue wool fabric tugs at Tommy's shoulders, it's too hot for this. Long sleeves in August? Tommy almost laughed when Phil told him he was going suit shopping with Techno and Wilbur to 'look presentable' for the trial; it'll help his case.
"Dude- I get I can't wear flip flops and a tank top, but a suit? I'm dying here, man."
"Do you wanna get rid of them or not?"
Tommy grimaces and deadpans, "Tactful. Thanks Phil." He pulls at his collar.
Phil sighs.
"He's just trying to-" Wilbur pauses. "Are you alright, Tommy?"
"Yeah."
"No you're not. But you will be."
Tommy says nothing, keeping his eyes on the shiny tiled floor.
Wilbur squeezes his hand as Techno says, "This stuff takes time - and the first step here is... getting them...y'know...out of your life."
A woman in a black pencil skirt pops her head out of the massive mahogany doors and smiles at the four men, eyes creasing kindly. "It's time, if you'll follow me, gentlemen."
Tommy tenses as Phil takes his hand and leads him into the room that will change his life.
---
No. Surely he's heard wrong.
He can't have heard right. But his ears are ringing as people grab his arm and shake it, and he looks at Wilbur for confirmation. And Wilbur's sobbing, crying blue, hot tears that spill out as he laughs. And Phil and Techno are there too, hugging him now.
He yells, a joyous, "WHAT?" But it isn't heard over everyone else. And he doesn't care.
Because they won.
And they cheered.
