A New Dawn

"Would you visit my grave if I died?"

"I'd die before you were ever in a grave malyshka." -Christian Allister (The Maddest Obsession)

ZANE DE LUCA

Alessandra and I continued to christen the house. My mate was a little vixen, constantly enticing me. Every surface had felt the heat of my mate. She had finally fallen asleep a while ago, wrapped up in the white sheets of my bed.

I was standing in front of my wall-length windows, watching as the sun began to rise. My mind often wandered to my mother. I think she would have liked the woman Alessandra grew into. The thought makes me smile and I almost miss the beady eyes staring at me.

Bright green eyes stare at me through the window. I mind link Ricardo and Hiro immediately.

Nightshade. North-east border.

The Nightshade jumps from its spot behind the trees and crashes through my window. Its dark hands clasp my throat, ready to pierce my jugular with its claws. Dark hair fills my vision as the Nightshade is thrown off me.

Alessandra.

It hisses at her. Its yellow, pointy teeth on display as it goes to attack her. I grab it by its throat and slam it to the floor. Without any hesitation, I force my hand through its chest cavity and pull out its heart. The Nightshade chokes and falls to the floor, disappearing into dust. Warm blood drips from my hand onto the floor as I stare at the nightmare that has come to life.

Alessandra covers her mouth with her hand. Her face displays shock.

"Was that a Nightshade?"

I give her a nod before wrapping her in my arms. She's wearing a black shirt of mine. It almost reaches her knees and my wolf howls with excitement from seeing our mate look completely ours. Her hair is still messy from my hands pulling on it, her neck is littered with bites, and I can still smell my release between her thighs.

Beautiful.

"You should get cleaned up, your brother will be here soon," I tell her reluctantly.

She smirks before disappearing upstairs.

Ricardo and Hiro come rushing in, my dad and Alessandra's are behind them.

"We have a problem," I say.

"This was too close, Alessandra could have been hurt," Antonio says.

I growl.

"I'm more than capable of protecting my mate," I say.

He doesn't look impressed but stops talking.

"There haven't been any reports of Nightshades from other packs," Hiro says.

"I doubt any of them would want to help us, the east coast has a rogue problem right now and the closest pack is not exactly a fan of ours," Ricardo adds.

It was true the Midnight Pack and Blood Moon were constant competitors in everything. They would love to see us fall. Their alpha was one who I would not mind killing myself.

"What about Silver Creek? Their only problem with us might be that my daughter absolutely destroys their runners whenever there is a race," Antonio says, mostly to brag.
