Fate Is Evil

"When love is real it finds a way." - Avatar Roku

Italy 1468

Rosanna rested her head against Lorenzo's naked torso. They were basking in the sun that filtered through their bedroom window. Lorenzo clutched Rosanna's hand and kissed her knuckles.

"My beauty, we should get up soon," Lorenzo told her. He had no desire to leave the comfort of his mate but as Alpha he had duties. She wrapped her hand around his bicep, her hand straining to completely grasp it.

"Just wait a little bit more, isn't it a beautiful day?"

A beautiful day it was, but Lorenzo did not care for the sun or the flowers that were blooming outside. Any day was beautiful with his mate by his side.

"I never thought I would have this," Rosanna whispered.

"Have what?"

"This. A relationship with my fated. I never thought I would have love," she said in a sad tone.

"They are all dead."

Rosanna's forehead crinkled in confusion.

"Who?"

"Everyone that could have meant something to him. I killed them all alongside him."

Rosanna let out a gasp as she turned around to face Lorenzo. She knew who he was talking about. A tear flowed down her cheek as she was reminded of her past.

"No one will hurt you again."

Lorenzo's chest ached as he looked at his beauty crying. He was instantly filled with regret. What if he had gone out searching for his mate instead of hiding from her? He probably would have found her before that bastard was able to marry her.

"I'm sorry amore, I should have found you sooner," he whispered. He brought his lips to her forehead and kissed it. She shook her head in disagreement.

"It was fate. There's nothing we could have done to prevent it."

Lorenzo didn't say anything. He always thought fate was a silly thing. Why would fate take his mother away from him? Why would it torture his mate with an abusive husband? Why would it make him scared to love? Fate wasn't this beautiful thing that brought us what we were supposed to receive. Fate was evil. The devil in disguise just waiting for a moment to take away what someone deemed most important to them.

His arms tightened around Rosanna. He would never let fate take her away from him too.

"The courtyard is gorgeous Lorenzo! The flowers surrounding it are so beautiful."

"That settles it then, that is where we will have our marking ceremony."

Rosanna looked up at Lorenzo with a smile.

"That would be perfect amore," she told him. She gave him a quick kiss on the lips and turned to look out the window again. Lorenzo's hands played with the ends of Rosanna's hair. It was his favorite pastime other than sex of course.

"Do you really think that once we die, we stay connected through our wolves?" Rosanna asked, her voice filled with hope. She had finally given in to her desires and accepted her mate. Now that she had him, she couldn't imagine a life without him.
