Running Out of Kills

"And like the moon, we must go through phases of emptiness to feel full again."

Italy 1468

Rosanna watched as her mate entered the packhouse. His white shirt was stained and his scent was tainted with the smell of a woman. Lorenzo's face was pulled in an angry frown as he ascended the stairs.

Rosanna felt her heart stop as a tear escaped her right eye. How could he do this? A day ago, they had mated in the very spot she was standing.

We should kill the woman.

It's not her fault he can't keep it in his pants.

Rosanna wiped her tears and stood straighter. She had vowed to never cry over a man again and she intended to keep her promise.

"So this is how it's going to be?" Rosanna asked Lorenzo in a malicious tone. He looked surprised to see her but his face became stoic quickly.

"I have needs like every other man."

"And because you are an alpha you think you can go and lay in other women's beds while your mate is supposed to stay home like a good little bitch?"

"That's not what I meant Rosanna, but you can't expect me to be tied to one woman right? I've been single for nearly 80 years!"

"Two can play that game Alpha."

Rosanna spun on her heel and walked back to her room. Did he not feel what she did when they made love? Was this going to be a one-sided relationship? With a shake of her head, Rosanna thought of something.

ZANE DE LUCA

"Get out." With a sigh, I relax against my chair and watch as she gathers her clothes and leaves my office. She looks back at me over her shoulder with what I think is supposed to be a seductive grin. My only reaction is a dismissive wave. She flicks her dark hair over her shoulder and exits through the door we had crashed through a few moments ago. She runs into Hiro on her way out who looks at her with nonchalance before giving me a disapproving look.

Ah, here he goes again.

"Seriously Zane? You're becoming Alpha and marking Isabel as your Luna in four days!"

What he just said is the exact reason I was letting Amira suck me off. It served as an escape from my reality. Soon I would be responsible for nearly 1,000 werewolves. I don't mind that though, I've been preparing for this day my whole life and even more so these past two years. My main problem is the wicked wench I have to share that duty with.
