"Who the hell are you?" In-yeop asked in his low voice. Upon hearing In-yeop, Dong-min looked at him and studied his expression. He looks so serious, a scowl on his face visible as he guards the girl behind him.
"It's okay, In-yeop. I know him," Soomi assured him but the guy stood rigid in his position.
"Hey, lovebirds, we've been looking for the two of you. Have you--" Yumi was not able to finish her sentence when he saw the serious look on In-yeop's face. The kind of seriousness one will know that something is not right. Chorong must have sensed it as well and was about to pull his gun out but Yumi stopped him.
"Who is he?" Yumi asked when they got closer to them.
"He's an acquaintance from where I came from," Soomi explained as he held In-yeop's arm, rubbing it lightly to assure him that the guy is harmless. She stood in front of Dong-min and introduced him to them. "He helped me out several times in digging up for some pieces of evidence for my news articles. He's a policeman."
Dong-min stared at everybody and felt the dark aura emanating from them. Being a policeman, it is a habit of him to observe a person from head to toe especially if his hunch is telling him that something is not right. And based on his observation, these guys are not just normal people.
"What brings you to this place?" Soomi asked which made Dong-min look at her.
"I was assigned to deal with child trafficking and my team heard that a group of people is selling children here," Dong-min explained which made Chorong scoff.
"You're team works so slow. The case had been solved," the fat guy commented cockily which made Dong-min's eyebrows raise.
"Where did your leads come from? Do you have an idea about the reason for this child trafficking?" Soomi asked to divert his attention to her. She knows the guy in front of her can be trusted but she still isn't sure if it is safe to talk about the mission they have successfully completed lately.
Dong-min looked at her then to the others, hesitating whether he should say the reason while others are listening. He looked particularly at In-yeop whose gaze never left him. The tall guy is giving him this icy cold stare which is obviously making him feel that his presence is not welcome.
"It's okay. They can hear what you will say," Soomi assured him when she sensed the deathly stares the two guys give each other.
"This is actually about your article about Mr. Han." Upon hearing the old man's name, everybody became tensed. The tension created by just hearing the old man's name makes Soomi heart pound so fast that she feels like her chest will explode. She can feel that their peaceful days are over.
"My article? I have never released any of my articles about Mr. Han yet," Soomi said quizzically. She have plotted a lot of news articles about the old man's dirty secrets but never did she tell anyone about it. She knows what she was doing was too risky and she doesn't want anyone get hurt with her plan of revealing the laboratory's experiments. She wants to be sure first that every story she has collected are true before talking it out with her superiors.
"One of your colleagues found your articles stored in your office desktop. They believe that all these articles lead to you being missing. This caused turmoil and now Mr. Han's business is experiencing a lot of haters because of the articles," Dong-min explained and gave her an equally confused look. "All these are all over the news. Haven't you watched any news yet?"
Soomi glanced at In-yeop and the latter mushed his eyebrows. She saw him wet his lips and tighten his jaws after, a habit of him whenever he is nervous. Ever since they have watched the news about her being searched by the authorities, she has decided not to watch any more news. It's not that she had already given up with her plan of taking Mr. Han down but she wants to cherish every moment with In-yeop.
