I son of king Shantanu here by abdicate my  throne of Hastinapur . from now on I will be a humble servant to the sons of king Shantanu and queen satyvati and will protect Hastinapur till my last breath"
The news of Prince Devrath relinquishing the throne spread like a wildfire . The citizens of Hastinapur were sad about the ill fate of their Prince .The courtiers was ready to accept their new queen

Years passed, queen satyvati gave birth to 2 sons Chitrangada and Vichitravirya. King Shantanu passed away with the guilt that it is for him his son give away his birthright

Chitrangada is a strong and intelligent Prince while Vichitravirya immersed himself with the pleasures the world offered him

Devrath protected the kingdom from countless enemies His vallour and fierness earned him the moniquer BHEESHM . with bheeshm as the commander of the Hastinapur army Hastinapur become the most powerful and richest kingdom in the entire Aryavarta

King Chitrangada died during a hunting trip leading to his brother becoming the next king. In order to protect his lineage queen Satyvati decided that it was time for  Vichitravirya to marry

KASHI

"  My king the invitations are ready to send ."
" Good minister my daughters swayamvar will be held soon . time flies too fast" replied king kasya
" My king what about the invitation to Hastinapur"
" There is no need to send if the king was Chitrangada I would had been happy to send one but Vichitravirya is a disgrace  my daughters will not marry him "

HASTINAPUR

" You asked for me Rajmata"
" Yes Devrath please sit down its time for Vichitravirya to marry king kasya has set date for his 3 daughters swayamvar .I want you to win that swayamvar for Vichitravirya" replied Satyvati
" But we are not invited "
" I know I want you to kidnap them so they could marry Vichitravirya "
" It's adharm I won't do this"
" You have to its kings order by not inviting us they had mocked the entire Hastinapur remember your oath bheeshm"
" I will do it . Princess of Kashi will be the future queens of Hastinapur" .

Kashi

The entire Kashi is decorated .it is the day of the swayamvar of their beloved princess AMBA,AMBALIKA,AMBIKA

The 3 princess reached the venue of swayamvar princess Amba walked towards her lover king salva with a garland . But the garland was snatched from her by some one she turned towards the man and was shocked like others in the venue . in front of her stood the student of great Parusharam Bheeshm

"What are you doing Hastinapur was not invited " asked kasya
" By not inviting Hastinapur you had mocked us I am here for the princess so they could marry my brother and if any one tries to stop me you will see there wrath of this Parusharamshishya"

No one raised their weapons Amba looked to salva even he didn't done anything to stop bheeshm from taking away the princess

Hastinapur was prideful Amba thought . Queen Satyvati welcomed them like they had come by their choice Amba had heard stories about Vichitravirya and the way he looked at her and her sisters confirmed those stories were true .She and her sisters knew that they had no other choice other than to marry Vichitravirya they won't be welcome back to KASHI but  salva may she hoped

Hence she declared she won't marry Vichitravirya .On hearing this Vichitravirya stated" I too will not marry her brother return her to her beloved salva "

Hence bheeshm accompanied Amba and Vichitravirya married the other princess

On reaching the empire of salva Amba was shocked to hear that salva won't accept her since she was won by bheeshm at swayamvar

Amba was devastated she can't return to KASHI nor to Hastinapur the only option she had was to either commit suicide or become a hermit

Bheeshm too was devastated seeing her like this though they had spent small time together he liked her attitude and courage 

" Do you have any other place to go"

" The only place now is heaven . my father won't accept me anymore and I can't marry your brother thank you great bheeshm for destroying my life"

Bheeshm looked at Amba and decided to do the the right thing

" Amba I am sorry I was bound by my duty if you accept me then I will be glad to spent my life with you "

Amba looked at bheeshm she didn't uttered a word only shook her head as acceptance

On the next day Bheeshm married Amba at a small temple near the borders of Hastinapur

Satyvati and Vichitravirya were not happy with the marriage but they accepted bheeshm decision
Thus 3 princess Amba Ambika Ambalika became the daughter in law's of kuruvansh
