I do not own the picture above. Horseman Death from Supernatural.

"Volleyball. We've played since we were a little older than you." Ranma nodded. Kakashi's eye lit up with excitement. We haven't been able to play for a long while—not since before the Third Great Shinobi War, if memory serves.
"We can show you a thing or two if you'd like, little one," Kakashi stated. Ranma nodded firmly, finally smiling.
Present
We all walked inside the rec center. I let out a low whistle in amazement at just how big it actually was. The outside simply didn't do it justice, though it does feel about the same size as the one in Helheim. Rather reminds me of it as well. There was equipment upon equipment for every kind of sport and the space the courts demanded to support them.
It was unusually quite as well. I looked around slowly surveying and taking stock of the room. Besides those of us that had just entered, there wasn't another soul in the space, either that I could see or sense. Rather unsettling if you ask me. My nose twitched as a new smell drifted to me. I started coughing and turned away. I felt my nails grow longer and my teeth sharper.
A cold cup was pressed into my hand and I drank it as quickly as I could. I wiped the back of my hand across my mouth. I growled when I saw my nails were still elongated. My shoulder started to throb painfully. I heard a ringing that kept getting louder and louder each passing second until it just... stopped. I shivered. It was cold enough for me to see my breath.
I glanced around again. I was still in the rec center but it looked as if it was the middle of the night when just a moment ago it was a bit before twilight. I doubted I had passed out though—didn't feel like I had anyway. I still didn't know what was going on; none of what just happened made any sense. I had to move. My entire body felt like lead. I lit a flame in my palm to try and keep some sort of light nearby.
My surroundings slowly changed to a... diner of sorts? It was well lit so I let the flame in my hand die out. This place wasn't like anything I had ever seen back home. It was empty except for one elderly looking man in a suit sitting at a table in the center of the floor. Another man, though far younger and wearing a checkered flannel, black t-shirt, jeans, and combat boots came through the door a few moments later.
"Are you going to sit down?" The man at the table asked. I slowly walked over and slid into a chair. The one wearing the flannel sat down next to me a few seconds later. He kept looking between me and the one in the suit.
"What's up? You call me out of the blue, don't give any details except a location, so I'm here. Now, a little info would be nice. Like who's the kid?" the one in the flannel said.
"I'm not a kid, old man," I snapped. He looked at me in disbelief.
"In due time, Dean," the old man stated. I set my elbow on the table and my head on my hand. I sniffed the old man. His scent was the same one as before. It was one of death. I wrinkled my nose at it.
"You smell like death," I grumbled at the old man.
"I am the Horseman Death, child," he stated. I sighed, remembering a part of the prophecy. 'When Death comes, Purgatory is near.'
"So we're going to Purgatory then," I murmured.
"Wait, Purgatory? You're gonna send some kid back with me to Monster Heaven?" The youngling asked. I growled unhappily.
"I am only a messenger, Dean," Death stated. "I will do what is necessary."
"I'll fit right in boy. Besides, a few leviathans won't be all that hard for me to kill," I stated with a dark smirk, letting my eyes shift to black. I stood up and stretched. "Let's get this over with, hm?"
