12. All Boiled

Chunky and pale boiled meat, mixed with boiled vegetables whose names were unknown to Yu Jinli.

Nameless greens floating in a bowl of soup. All food in front of him was boiled. He who had tasted all good food on earth didn't expect this world which was more technologically advanced would be so primitive in terms of cuisine.
How could he live with this?

"Li-er, try a piece of dragon tenderloin. It contains a lot of energy and is very beneficial to health. You are too thin. You need to eat more and put on some weight." Qiao Mulan said as she picked up a chunk of dragon tenderloin and put it in Yu Jinli's bowl.

Looking at the meat cooked in a most primitive way, Yu Jinli couldn't bring himself to eat it. However, as he saw Qiao Mulan's expectant eyes, he couldn't steel himself to let her down. All he could do was to pray that the cooks of Jiang Family were exceptionally good at their jobs who were able to make ordinary boiled meat delicious.

However, soon, he was defeated by reality. The meat was boiled without a single condiment which completely retained its original taste and flavor.
It tasted really bad. Yu Jinli, who had enjoyed various delicacies before felt as if he was chewing wax.

Though the food was insipid, he didn't want to hurt Qiao Mulan's feelings so he had no choice but to force himself to swallow it.
The good thing was the dragon tenderloin was fresh with a nice chewy texture, only tasteless. Yu Jinli tried to persuade himself inwardly and then swallowed it.
Right at this point, he felt a pure and familiar energy entered his body by his mouth and proceeded forward through its usual route with difficulty.

He was stunned.

"Li-er, what's wrong? Is it not good?" Qiao Mulan who had been watching him saw him turn still and asked hurriedly.
"No, nothing. It's great." Yu Jinli answered dully.
He took another bite of the dragon tenderloin and swallowed it in a hurry.

As expected, a familiar energy flowed through him, nourished his body and came together in his inner core.
He was filled with joy at this discovery as he looked at the dragon tenderloin in front of him like it was a miraculous cure.
It never occurred to him that there would be spiritual object in this world.
Back when he heard of it from his master shifu, it was already something existed only in legends.
Spiritual object contains spirit power, beneficial to cultivators, a supplement of spiritual energy in particular.

However, as society develops, spirit power decreases while spiritual object nearly disappears. Cultivators are left to extract and cultivate spirit power from spiritual energy.

"Li-er, you like the dragon tenderloin? I'll ask the kitchen to cook it more often. Dragon tenderloin is also good for health," said Qiao Mulan affectionately.
