chapter 22

A day passed since the Thomas accident. The Ahjin guild was invited to the international guild conference in America to represent South Korea. 

Of course, both inside and outside was swarmed with reporters. We can't do anything without reporters following us.

"It sees the reporters have already caught wind of your fight. It'll be difficult for you two to escape attention today. We've secured testimony from Hwang dong-su's party. The hunter bureau will ensure that the truth behind the incident comes to light." Oh, don't you love the feeling of having powerful people backing you up? "I'll translate the contents of the presentation through the earpiece for you.

Dropping two small, black earpieces into my hand. I handed one to Jin and handed the other back. "I'm fluent in English so I don't need one. Jin-woo on the other hand." Not explaining anymore as I playfully glance over to Jin who responded with a glare that held the expression of either you want to continue that or what is that meant to mean.

"I see. The meeting is this way." Jin and I walked through and were met with a large open room. It had a descending walkway in the middle and on either side was rows of long desks curving in a circular shape toward the front. In the center of everything was a podium. There were so many people and it didn't help my self-confidence that everyone turned around to look at us. 

I suddenly felt a tug at my hand, looking down at it I saw Jin's hand in mine. He was only facing forward but this simple action spoke many words. Tugging me along with him as we walked down few rows to two empty seats. not soon after everyone faced the front as an old man walked to the podium. 

This gave me the chance to look around at the people here. I cant look at the people behind me since the desk setup is like stairs so the desk blocked my view, but even so by looking at the people below me, I realized I'm basically the only female here. Everyone is of guys of various ages in suits.

"It's been widely reported that the magical energy concentration being absorbed into the atmosphere is becoming increasingly greater. I want to refer to this magical energy found in the atmosphere differently. Until we are able to find a more appropriate term to call it, how about we refer to it as the magisphere?" The old man pressed a button that was in his hand causing a map of the world to appear behind him that covered the whole wall. Multiple red dots were scattered across the map in different countries. "Do you know that this magisphere is currently gathering above the skies of several countries? We have observed this phenomenon in a total of nine places and out of all those places the magisphere is most concentrated here." 

Turning around and hitting the button again the map zoomed in to South Korea. "That is Seoul, South Korea." Everyone turned and looked at us with a few exceptions who didn't. People started to whisper and with our heightened senses, we can hear every word they say.

"There's o need to look at Mister Sung and Miss Jeong like that. If they're the ones herding around the magisphere above the sky, then they are already past the realm of a hunter, after all. As we do not know its cause, there's nothing we can do to deal with it at the moment. However, just because it is not possible to deal with it, that doesn't mean that there isn't a need to deal with it. The world may face a great chance once again." The old man stepped down a younger man took his place.

"I have something urgent to announce to the hunters that have gathered here today. It is with a heavy heart that I deliver this news." Oh god no. "Around 2 weeks ago, Hunter Christopher Reid was assassinated by a group of unidentified assailants." Again the guys in the room started whispering again. "The news of Christopher Reid will be officially released tomorrow. Please listen carefully, without misunderstanding. There is a man we suspect to the perpetrator of this crime. Suspect S." The image of the map switch to scenes of the aftermath of the fight and of Jin's father.

I told Adam to tell them it wasn't him.

"The man found in a gate in the U.S was determined to be a monster who was capable of speaking the human language, Moreover, we requested the aid of S-rank Hunter Hwang Dong-Su, who spoke Korean, to lead the interrogation but he took down Hunter Hwang Dong-Su in the middle of the interrogation and brought the Hunter association headquarters down in flames. The culprit was powerful enough to defeat Hunter Hwang Dong-Su, Who acted as a member of the main force in the scavenger guild. A strong humanoid monster like him, who escaped from the dungeon, May have targeted hunter Christopher Reid together. This is the conclusion that we have come to at the hunter association." 

More photos flashed on the screen. "We plan on requesting the aid of all guilds around the world to apprehend suspect s and ask that you contact us immediately upon discovering him." A few people started to ask questions but it wasn't till the famous Liu Zhigeng, who's china's 7-star hunter asked his question.

"Wouldn't it be better to reveal his identity in pursuit of his arrest? Don't you think so chief? I'll be more direct. What's the monster's relation to Hunter Sung Jin-Woo?"

"I guess we have no choice. During the questioning, the suspect s revealed himself to be Hunter sung Ji-woo's father and we are carrying out our investigation assuming this is true."

"hunter Sung Jin-Woo if suspect s turns out to e your missing father, and other hunters attempt to hunt him down, what will you do?" Liu really wants to press our buttons, huh? But how is Jin handling this? 

"It's only right that hunters hunt down monsters. If he is indeed a monster, then I'll take care of him myself, But if he is not a monster, but rather truly my father then I will protect my family, even if that means I'll make an enemy of every single hunter in the world." With that said the meeting continued with heavy air. 

I lean closer to Jin and spoke in a whisper so only he can hear. "You always find more ways to make me fall for you." 

"What do you mean?"

"Isn't it obvious what I mean? The aura you project and the way you spoke I find it kinda hot."

"Ji-Soo not right now." Sighing while closing his eyes as if to mentally collect himself.

"Hmm. Why not? Oh, since you said if I recall, I will protect my family, even if that means I'll make an enemy of every single hunter in the world. Since I'm your girlfriend does the same go for me or do I have to become your wife before that applies." The moment I said wife his eyes widen causing me to almost burst with laughter but I managed to hold it in.

"What the hell? Why would you ask that here? If you really need to know, It already applies to you so shut up." Doing as he said I stayed quiet the rest of the time with a big smile on my face while Jin with his stern face. he even gave me glares from time to time but I didn't care. 

Outside of the room when the meeting finished we met up with Adam again. "Did you mean it, what you said back there?"

"Yes."

"To say such a thing in front of so many power hunters from 120 different countries. There are probably only three hunters, you two included, who would say something like that."

"Is Thomas the other one?" I asked as I bounced between the two men beside me. 

"Yes. There will be a feast in just a moment. The hunter's associations put a lot of work into it. If you two aren't busy, perhaps you could dine with the other hunters." Adam stopped talking as we all looked at Liu walking towards us. Talking in Chinese witch neither me nor Jin understood but luckily Adam here spoke all Asian languages.

"he says he caught a giant monster that you let slip away, on the coast of China. He finds that the giant monster was stronger than he expected and that it was even more difficult as the battle took place on the water. He's been wanting to meet you ever since. He's been curious to see what kind of hunters could take down such strong monsters, so easily." Liu reached out his hand which Jin took. "He says that he's hoping for that reason that, that suspect s isn't a member of your family.
