"I think this purple would look really good on you, " Jay said going through her nail polish, which wasn't much.
It was a few days before the Halloween dance, and only Demetri and Eli had their costumes. The girls were going to go later that day, once Crimson had gotten off of work. Eli had sat on her floor, back up against her bed as he watched Jay pull out a lighter purple.
"You think?" he asked timidly. He didnt think she was actually going to do it, but he should've known better because she's been bugging him about it for months now.
"Definitely," she spoke finally looking at him and sitting criss cross in front of where he sat. She grabbed one of her stiffest pillows and put it on her lap, patting it so Eli could put his hand on it. Eli looked around her room like he hasn't been in it multiple times as she began to paint his right hand. His eyes caught sight of the bumble bee pillow pet she had on her unmade bed, A small raccoon next to it. You could obviously tell the bee had been around for sometime. The yellow was faded and it looked sort of flat. The stuffing made lumps in some spots whereas other spots had little to none.
"You still have Duck?" he asked, but it seemed more like a statement.
The pink haired girl looked up to the bee that laid on her pillow with the blanket covering half its body. It looked as it was sleeping. A grave expression appeared on her face and just as quick as it came it left, leaving a somewhat angry one to appear instead.
"Of course, im not going to get rid of him." she replied, going back to what she was doing.
"You never told me where Rocky came from, you normally tell me about everything you get," he said, referencing the raccoon sitting by the bee.
"Some guy gave him to me at golf n stuff. He was going to give it to this girl but the girl complained it was too small or whatever." she quickly made up, not looking at Eli once. If she told him where and who actually gave it to her, she was afraid he would be mad. Plus he didnt want her to know about why she got it, she wasn't ready to tell him, or anyone for that matter.
Eli hummed in understanding noticing she wanted to drop the subject. It was quiet until Jay had gotten to his last finger.
"Hey so how's karate? You've been going for a few days now right?"
The girl nodded as she stood up to put everything away.
"Yeah, sensei thinks I'm pain in the ass. He told me last night. But its really fun!" she said smiling at him.
"Last nigh- wait last night? But we were all at Crim's?"
"Afterwards silly. Dad wanted something sweet but we didn't have any so I went to the mini mart and saw sensei there. I asked him if he wanted to get shakes and we did. Then we had a little conversation, he cares a lot about Miguel you know which is cute, and then we went our separate ways."
