It has been a week since my internship started and I was in love with the class of 1-A. They were all so charismatic and curious students. We were like friends and even Bakugou wouldn't scoff every time I would ask him a question now.
However, the training of my quirk didn't make much progress. I could now hold and stop my illusion after a minute and a half but I didn't move past that time in the last two days.
Aizawa offered that we would train even on weekends to make progress faster which I wasn't so fond of. I wanted to have my rest over the weekend but I knew I had to do it for my internship. Mr. Yamada would assist us to be the 'victim' of my training, which I was very thankful for. I planned on inviting him for drinks some time to repay him. The illusions weren't so traumatic for Yamada since his fear wasn't that complex as Kan's for example and he grew to tolerate some bugs as well.
So I could say that I helped him in a way. At least that's what I told myself to not feel so guilty. I felt like Aizawa also warmed up to me a bit. It wasn't like we were friends but at least he wasn't acting so smug about everything I said.
He now managed to wish me good morning and greet me when he saw me without annoyance. He tried to ask me about the killing that Nezu mentioned when we were alone in his office but I would always get so nervous that he stopped asking me and didn't push it further.
It was Monday and we have just finished with my training that was always held in the empty class of 1-A. Yamada was again a bit disheveled but was able to get back to his regular mood more quickly.
Before Yamada could bid his goodbyes, I said. "Mr. Yamada do you want to do out for drinks? I will be paying."
"Huh? Why?" He turned on his heels towards me.
"Well, I wanted to make it up to you somehow that you are going under the stress of being used by my quirk." I hope it's not too intruding. I'm just an intern after all.
"Hmm..." Yamada put his hand to his chin in a dramatic fashion to indicate that he was thinking.
"Mr. Aizawa you can go with us too. I have to thank you for teaching me and having to spend your free time with me." I turned to Aizawa who was sitting in the teacher's chair.
"Sure, I can't refuse free booze, right Aizawa?" Yamada exclaimed.
Aizawa groaned and brushed his hand through his messy hair. At first, I didn't like his messy hair. It was so unkept and also scary when it floated but I grew to like it. Every time his hand would go through his hair or he tucked away a loose strand behind his ear, something jumped in me.
"I have stuff to do." He dismissed the offer while picking up his briefcase.
"Hey, do not act like you are busy. I know that you will just play with your cats at home. And you never refused free alcohol when I had offered you." Aw, he likes cats? That's so cute. I'll have to ask him about them some time. Aizawa stopped in his tracks and looked at me. His shoulder slouched with a heavy sigh.
"All right."
"Yay!" Yamada and I cheered.
Yamada chose a dimly lit bar for us to drink in. There weren't many people here. The atmosphere seemed glum. I was confused why did the cheery loud hero choose this location. The mood suited more to Aizawa in my opinion. But if he likes it here then what am I to judge him. The guys ordered beer which I was happy about because it was one of the cheapest drinks on the drink menu and I was still a student and didn't have much money. I ordered a Mojito and the waiter left.
"So why did you choose this bar Mr. Yamada."
"Oh, drop the Mr., you can just call me Yamada. We're friends after all." Yamada smiled at me.
"We are friends?" I asked trying to hide my excitement.
"Of course, you invited us for drinks. That's what friends do." My face glowed with happiness. He thinks of me as a friend. I wish Aizawa thought the same about me. But that won't probably happen in million years.
"And to get back to your question. I chose this one because me and Aizawa used to go here all the time when we were younger, right buddy?" Yamada nudged Aizawa's shoulder. He scoffed and took a sip of his drink. So they ARE friends and old ones at that.
I wonder if Aizawa was more friendly before because from how Yamada talks about their old days he seemed at least a bit sociable.
We continued drinking while chatting about our lives. Well...me and Yamada did most of the talking. Aizawa was only listening and sometimes not even that. He moved from drinking beer to drinking whiskey which I knew would hurt my wallet a bit but I invited them, so I had to literally pay the consequences.
I had to admit I was a bit tipsy. The stress at school got to me and if I had the opportunity to drink with my 'colleagues', I wanted to ease up.
"Hahaha, how could that happen?" I laughed after Yamada told another one of his stories from his young life. He was full of funny stories like this and was visibly happy that I liked his obnoxious boasting. When he told those stories to Aizawa, he wouldn't get any reaction or he would just scoff and get back to his work.
"I know right. I couldn't believe it myself." Yamada laughed, his hair violently shaking.
"I'm going home." Aizawa suddenly stood up.
"What? Nooo." I whined the alcohol taking over me.
Aizawa turned around and looked at me with a tired expression. "I can't listen to your blabbing anymore." Excuse me, sir? It's your problem that you are an unsociable grump so don't insult me.
"Maybe we should go too." Yamada stood up too. I sighed defeated.
"Thanks for the drinks tho." Yamada waved at me and they both went to leave.
I stayed a little longer to call a taxi to get me home and then went to pay. When the cashier told me the amount I should pay, I was confused and asked him if he had the right table. It wasn't that much money which I thought it would be. But I shrugged it off and paid anyway. I took the receipt and on my way home in a taxi examined what I had paid for.
The drinks that Aizawa had weren't listed on it. Did he pay for himself? I was a little happy that I didn't have to pay for his 'expensive' drinks but I still wanted to thank him somehow which bugged me. Maybe we could go out for drinks again just the two of us where I could pay for his drinks as well.
