My phone ringing off the hook disturbed me from my peaceful slumber. I groaned and slammed my hand down on it, trying to shut off the alarm. But it wouldn't stop; and that's when I realized that it wasn't an alarm. Someone was calling me.
"Hello?" I groaned into the phone. I checked the time on my alarm clock. 2:34 A.M.
"Jade, oh thank god." Calum's shaky voice spoke through the phone.
"What the hell? It's two in the morning!" I complained. What could possibly not wait until the morning?
"Jade, listen to me carefully."
"Okay." I mumbled.
"I'm in jail."
I sat up quickly, suddenly wide awake. Why the hell is my best friend in jail? A thousand possibilities rushing through my head, all possible, stupid things Calum could have done to land himself in jail.
"What the fuck did you do?" I almost laughed.
"Are you laughing?" he asked, his tone sounding very serious.
"No." I lied. Joy was literally going to kill him.
"I just need you to come pick me up, please?" he begged. I considered making him beg a bit longer, but decided against it when I realized that the bags under my eyes would only go away if I got as much sleep as possible.
"I'm on my way." I mumbled and hung up the phone. That was what Calum and I always did; never asked questions, just bailed each other out of trouble.
end of flashback
I didn't want to call Calum. But I could not call my parents. They would literally kill me. I considered calling Carter, but then again, I bet Abby already did, and I couldn't ask him to bail out two people tonight.
So, I was left with calling Calum. Reluctantly, I dialed his number and tried to calm my nerves as the phone rang.
"Hello?"
Just hearing his voice calmed me down a bit, but knowing he was about to be really pissed off scared the shit out of me.
"Cal, uh, hey." I stuttered out. Maybe if I just didn't talk at all, he would just hang up and I didn't have to do this at all.
"Jade, babe where are you? Why aren't you calling me from your cell?" he questioned. I took a deep breath. I had to tell him everything and just hope that he wouldn't kill me.
"The cops showed up at the party and I kinda, sorta got arrested." I mumbled quietly into the phone, almost as if I were quiet he wouldn't hear me.
"You did what?" he yelled into the phone. I winced at the volume in his voice.
"I just... can't tell my parents and I need you to come pick me up. I'll pay you back every single penny, Cal, but please-"
"Jade, of course I'll come and pick you up. And don't worry about paying me back. I love you, I'll be there soon." he said, then hung up the phone.
Relief flooded over me. Calum didn't sound angry. He almost sounded happy that I was okay. I sat back down on the bench and waited for a few minutes for Calum to show up. Knowing him, he was probably still pulling himself into some pants.
When he finally did show up, he came in shirtless. I chuckled and rolled my eyes at him as he talked to the woman at the front desk, who looked rather uncomfortable with his half-nakedness. He brought out his wallet and paid, then the woman pointed over to me, and he sprinted over.
