Int. Emerald City Castle-Morning

GLINDA

This is horrendible! How am I supposed to protect my citizens if my whole army is gone? I wish Elphie was here. She'd know what to do!

Memory

GLINDA

Memory

Turn your face to the moonlight

Let your memory lead you

Open up, enter in

If you find there

The meaning of what happiness is

Then a new life will begin

Memory

All alone in the moonlight

I can smile at the old days

We were together then

I remember

The time I knew what happiness was

Let the memory

Live again

Burnt out ends of smoky days

The stale cold smell of morning

A street lamp dies

Another night is over

Another day is dawning

Daylight

I must wait for the sunrise

I must think of a new life

And I mustn't give in

When the dawn comes

Tonight will be a memory too

And a new day will begin

(bursts into tears)

SERVANT

(outside the door)

Miss Glinda?

GLINDA

Come in.

SERVANT

(entering)

Your breakfast is ready. Would you like me to bring it up?

GLINDA

I'll come get it soon.

SERVANT

Is everything alright?

GLINDA

(thinking fast)

Yes, I just lost my diamond bracelet. It's not a problem, it was old anyway.

SERVANT

Of course.

(exits. GLINDA faceplants onto her bed. After a moment, she sits up and looks in the mirror)

GLINDA

Great. Now I've ruined my new hairdo.
