My First Crush

You stole my poor heart,

At such a tender age.

I didn't notice nor did I realise,

You held me spellbound in a sturdy cage.

Your laughter still rings through my head,

Your smile still makes me melt inside.

Everything we did together; I'll forever remember,

The memories go on - long and wide.

When I look back,

I see it all so clearly.

My whole day was brightened,

My laughter rang dearly.

I remember one evening, where

We watched T.V.

We lay side by side,

Engrossed in what we see.

At the end of that sad film,

Tears fell freely from my eyes.

You got tissues and wiped them away,

And whispered, "Please don't cry."

I smiled and held you close to me,

And gradually you chased my sadness away.

I will never ever forget,

That very memorial day.

In my mind's eye, I see

You were my best friend - my saviour.

And in my own return,

You would want no favour.

Now we have both grown up,

And you are no longer the same.

Your heart has shrunk, your ego grew,

I do not like what you've become.

Still, sometimes when my eyes meet yours,

I shiver from an adrenaline rush.

For to this very day...

I still love my first crush.
