edaline's fingers faltered before she opened the book. she was attacked by a wave of memories - just sounds.
'eda?'
'yes, del?'
'wanna make a dream book?'
'what's that?'
a soft laugh.
'i just made it up, eda! we write our dreams down in a book! want to?'
'of course!'
edaline missed the days when she was eight.
she couldn't put it off any longer, so, with trembling fingers that betrayed her stone cold face, edaline opened the thick notebook.

edaline smiled slightly at the childish handwriting. della had written it all, even edaline's dreams.
the dreams at the beginning were all completed.

and so on. as edaline turned the pages, the dreams and the handwriting got more mature.

Get a job - DONE
not all of them were done.

edaline got to the final pages of della's side of the book.

edaline was overcome by another flood of memories. more sounds.

edaline's vision blurred. she had told herself she wouldn't cry, but looking at della's two last dreams, wet splotches landed on the paper. she picked up her pencil and slowly crossed them out. the two dreams that would never happen, because of some stupid drunk driver.
